Tony’s Place is the kind of diner you don’t think exists anymore. Hidden in the industrial stretch of Abbotsford, surrounded by warehouses and the smell of diesel, it doesn’t try to impress you with design or polish. You walk in and immediately know this place has stories. The walls, the music, the hum of coffee cups and conversations it’s the sound of comfort.
The food is bold and honest. Eggs cooked exactly the way you asked, bacon with a proper chew, hash browns crisped to perfection. The Hungry Man is a challenge and a reward, the kind of plate that makes you slow down and appreciate every bite. If you’ve got the stamina, the pies and milkshakes will remind you of the simplicity of being a kid again. Nothing here is fussy, nothing here is ironic. It’s just good food that fills the soul as much as the stomach.
The staff carry the place with an easy warmth. They top up your coffee without asking, remember faces, and treat you like you’ve been coming for years even if it’s your first visit. Service can be a little slow, but it feels more human than faulty.
Tony’s Place doesn’t chase trends or try to reinvent the wheel. It’s a diner in the purest sense. Honest, filling, unpretentious. A place to sit down, breathe, and remember what it feels like to eat without overthinking...
Read moreProbably the worst diner I have ever been to service-wise. It took us two hours to get in and out.
The waiter served everyone around us and then realized she had forgotten about us. She apologized for the confusion, which was nice, saying sorry about five times, so we thought that would be the end of it.
However, the bad service continued. She came to our table a total of three times over the course of two hours—once for drinks, once to take our food order, and once to bring our food. All of this was late. She never asked if we wanted a coffee refill or brought us any condiments.
We noticed that we were being served less frequently compared to everyone else at the establishment. We’re not sure if this was due to racism or if they were just busy and we were biased, but it felt like we were dealing with the most soulless waitress I have ever met.
After nearly two hours at the restaurant, no one came to give us the bill. I had to walk up to the owner and request it myself.
On a side note: I would recommend coming prepared to this restaurant. Bring a tent, some food (in case they forget about you), water (to stay hydrated), and maybe a bell so you can get the staff's attention. In case the restaurant closes before you get your order, I would also suggest bringing firewood to...
Read moreThe omelettes here are always good, however the reason I'm giving this place three stars today it's because I ordered crispy hash browns and I received not crispy hash whites after being very specific about it when placing the order, as some of you may know by now I also like my toast completely buttered and it arrived not only partially better but cold, cold enough that the butter did not melt. My server asked me why I didn't mention it, I said because you didn't come by and she said I asked you how is everything I said that was after the fact. My thinking is if you order something and your server can clearly tell that your hash browns are not Brown but in fact White and you're completely butter toast does not look completely buttered that the server should automatically return it back to the kitchen and ask for it to be right. These are just my thoughts! I have been here before and will definitely be back because the food is always tasty and the omelets are fantastic. Sorry for that not so good...
