We recently ordered takeout from Karahi Boys, and I have to say, it was a pretty solid experience overall, a bit pricey but worth the flavorful food. Great presentation, and a combo deal that’s definitely worth checking out, though it could use a few improvements. Their combo includes a full Karahi and a couple of small chicken biryanis, naan bread plus optional add ons.
For the Karahi, we chose the Potohari Karahi, and it was absolutely excellent, rich, flavorful, and unlike any Karahi I’ve had before. The blend of spices and the depth of flavor really stood out, giving it a unique and authentic taste. It’s the kind of dish that makes you want to scoop up every last bit of gravy with naan. Speaking of naan, the bread that came with the combo was outstanding. It had a slightly different texture and flavor than most places, soft yet crisp on the edges, you could tell it was freshly made.
The combo also included two small chicken biryani boxes, but this is where I felt there’s room for improvement. Both biryanis had just a single small piece of chicken each, which didn’t quite make sense for a combo of that size. The flavor was good, but the quantity and meat portion definitely need to be increased to make it feel complete and balanced.
We also added on four seekh kebabs for $16, and that was a great deal, they were juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, easily one of the highlights of the meal. The salad and raita were fresh and cooling, complementing the spiciness of the dishes nicely. To top it all off, they included gulab jamun, which was soft, warm, and a sweet way to end the meal.
The ambience of the restaurant looked modern and welcoming, even though we opted for takeout this time. It seems like a great spot to dine in, especially for family gatherings or celebrations, and I’d definitely like to go back for that experience.
Overall, Karahi Boys serves up excellent, flavorful Pakistani cuisine with standout dishes like the Potohari Karahi and Seekh kebabs. With a bit of improvement in the biryani portion and chicken quantity, this place could easily become one of the top go-to spots in the area for authentic...
Read moreSo today I went to this infamous Karahi joint and perhaps the last time (Ajax location). They had the slowest service which I may have experienced in my life at a restaurant. In fact even the table next to us complained about their 45 minute wait.
Pls don’t order the Toofani shrimps. There is nothing “tornado” about it. It’s Costco frozen shrimp battered up and fried. 6 pieces for $14, Popeyes has better options.
As I’ve attached my invoice and requested to bring food items whichever is ready first to which they obliged. Great. But who serves Kabab’s without bread ?! Karahi Boys.
I was observing for 25 minutes the manager kept offering free bread to the next table without even noticing us. Back to back fresh bread and my chicken Kabab’s were enjoying the patio weather without the bread. This moment I decided to leave. The blame was put on me that I requested the Kabab to be provided earlier. I guess sometimes the customer is wrong as I don’t have the right to eat my Kababs with naan. My time stamp for food pic taken vs invoice printed can be compared.
We left the restaurant and I requested everything take away and you can see from the pics I ate the rest at home.
Such restaurants should learn from other franchises on how pressure should be handled. I understand that after lockdown restrictions service industry is short staffed, servers, cooks etc are not yet ready to come back due to the pandemic. Also some items on the menu were not available. Which is understandable. But there are ways. I would’ve happily waited before taken to my table and the restaurant managed their customers accordingly.
While visiting the bathroom I noticed that delivery orders were being served at a fast pace.
No butter on the naans as requested.
I wanted to leave the restaurant without taking any food but after spending hour and a half and some restaurants closing at 10 I had to bite the $97 bullet.
No doubt. The KB...
Read moreWe went to Karahi Boys (Ajax) on 15th August. Based on the reviews we had high expectations but it didn't turned out as we expected. The only 2 things we liked about it was the ambience (very tastefully decorated) & courteous wait staff (that's why giving 2 stars, instead of 1). Coming to food, we ordered a bunch of stuff i.e. Boneless Chicken Karahi / Chapali kabab / aashik chicken seekh kabab / garlic naan / tandoori roti / green salad / chicken kabab Karahi (was an add on item that we had to bring back home with other left over items as the gravy in chicken Karahi was not enough to finish 2 garlic naan & 2 tandoori rotis, so we were recommended this gravy item). After being seated we were told that it will take about 30-35 mins to cook which we were absolutely fine with as we were enjoying the ambience of the place and the fragrance of desi food emnating from their kitchen. Once the food came, it looked so enticing but we were let down by the taste - Chicken Karahi was no where to what we expected i.e. spicy & flavor-full gravy with boneless pieces that are soaked up in juices & soft , this was completely opposite of what we expected i.e. gravy was missing (we were told that we should have ordered the dish with extra gravy) but whatever gravy was there wasn't as per our taste (not sure if anyone has visited Shaheen tikka & kabab house in North york, but that is the taste that we were looking for). Chapali kabab was dry , we took 1 back home and even that we couldn't finish. We hate wasting foog but part of chapali kababb & half of chicken kabab Karahi had to be discarded. The aashik chicken seekh kabab wasn't great either , it had a game'y smell and didn't taste of spicy marination at all. We went with very high expectations but came out totally disappointed. Not worth the $118 we spent nor...
