Extremely disappointed with Eggstatic Ajax — and this is coming from someone who absolutely loves the Eggstatic brand. I’ve been to the Mississauga location multiple times and have always walked away satisfied, full, and impressed by the food, service, and overall experience. Unfortunately, the Ajax location is a completely different story, and sadly, not in a good way. I would go as far as to say that Eggstatic Mississauga is 1000x better in every possible way — food quality, customer service, organization, and overall efficiency.
Let me break it down.
I came here with a few friends on a Tuesday afternoon, expecting a smooth and quick meal. The place was fairly empty, so naturally, we expected decent service and a reasonable wait time. However, we ended up waiting OVER AN HOUR for our food. Yes, over an hour — on a quiet weekday afternoon. That in itself is unacceptable, but it was the lack of attentiveness and communication from the servers that pushed this from an inconvenience to a downright bad experience.
I ordered the Chicken Benedict and a Cheese Manakeesh. After about 30–35 minutes of waiting, we asked the server to check on the status of our food. She replied, “It’s coming,” with a casual tone — and then proceeded to make us wait another 20 minutes after that. This happened more than once. We had to ask multiple times and each time, it felt like we were being brushed off instead of being given a proper explanation. There was no apology, no empathy, no sense of urgency — just complete indifference.
When the food finally did arrive, the quality was nothing to write home about — which made the long wait even more frustrating. • The Chicken Benedict was average at best. The portion size was noticeably smaller than what I’ve received at other Eggstatic locations. • The hollandaise sauce was okay, but honestly, that was the only redeeming part of the dish. And it wasn’t even enough, which is probably why the owner tried to “make it up” to me by offering extra sauce — but extra sauce doesn’t fix cold, subpar food or a miserable dining experience. • The fries that came with the dish were stale and not fresh. They had that “left under the heat lamp too long” texture and absolutely no crisp or flavor. • The Cheese Manakeesh was especially disappointing. It clearly lacked cheese and felt like a dry, half-hearted version of what I’m used to from Eggstatic Mississauga, where they are always generous with toppings and portion size. Here, it was flat, lifeless, and looked like it was made in a rush.
But again, the most frustrating part of the visit wasn’t just the food — it was the lack of customer service and care. Not once did a server check in to ask how things were going. Not once did anyone apologize for the long delay or acknowledge that our table had been sitting there hungry for over an hour. Even when it was clear that other tables who arrived after us were being served before us, nothing was done to address our concerns.
The whole vibe felt careless and unprofessional — a far cry from the Mississauga location, where staff are always on the ball, friendly, and well-organized. You can tell the difference in management and operations right away. The Mississauga team has always made me feel valued as a customer. The Ajax team made me feel like I was an inconvenience.
Will I be coming back? Absolutely not. Will I recommend this location? Definitely not. I will, however, continue to visit Eggstatic Mississauga, and I’ll be telling everyone I know to avoid the Ajax location unless they want to waste their time, money, and appetite.
Eggstatic has built a great reputation elsewhere, but this location seriously damages the brand’s image. Hopefully they can reevaluate their service and kitchen management because this was hands-down one of the worst brunch...
Read moreI stopped into this restaurant for lunch yesterday around 1pm. It was very crowded and the AC was not working well so it was hot inside. Maybe a combination of the kitchen with heat generated being open to the dining area plus an issue with the building HVAC.
The decor looked nice however and it seemed to be a popular place.
I waited about 8 minutes and no one came to give a menu or water. Again it’s busy so I then stopped one of the servers to ask for a menu. When she brought it, I let her know I knew what I wanted and wished to order right away. The desired bacon was not an option (she also said sausage wasn’t either) - turns out they don’t serve pig based products here. Good for people who need that, but you’re not going to get a traditional bacon or sausage and eggs meal. I opted for the pulled beef with my eggs, buttered toast and home fries.
It was about another 20 minutes before the food came. The toast was plain (most places serve it buttered or give butter to add yourself). Not here, which was really weird to get no condiments for the toast. I asked the server for butter. It was taking a really long time to get and I followed up to ask because my eggs and toast were getting cold now (I eat these together). She then brought me a metal cup with melted butter! Huh. How was I to spread that on my toast?? I told her that I needed just the little pats of butter to spread on my toast. At this point, I was there about 35 minutes. I did try the small side of pulled beef while waiting and it was very good.
She said okay and I thought she would be right back with some little butter pats. Nope. I looked over and saw her standing around by the kitchen window.
Staring at my now cold eggs and toast, and nearing the end of my available lunch time, I walked toward the kitchen where the server and manager were and let them know about this. The manager was gracious and offered to replace the cold meal and take care of things. But I didn’t have another 20-35 minutes to wait, so I left without eating. Too bad because the food looked really good, I had wasted 35 minutes already, and I was leaving hungry and disappointed.
Some advice if you want to have a stress free experience: don’t expect fast service - the serving staff and cooks are very slow. Don’t expect that you will get what you need, and they seem to do things very differently than traditional breakfast places - the menu (I assume is from the franchisor) shows bacon, but you’re told it’s not offered.
Advice for the restaurant: only 1 of your 3 servers works fast (Afro decent - I could see she is a great worker) - the others need to pick up their speed. And maybe give them an iPad with better software for ordering items and selecting condiments (the small POS machine seems inadequate) to reduce errors. That my server didn’t bring butter or jam for the toast also suggests she needs more training since these are standard with toast at an all day breakfast restaurant. And why didn’t your cooks butter the toast?
Lastly, hire another cook and/or evaluate the speed and efficiency of your current cooks. It does not take long to cook 2 eggs and that was way too long for my food to arrive. Maybe the busy-ness of your establishment requires another cook? It’s lunch time and people coming on their work lunch break only have one hour usually.
I hope that you address these speed and accuracy issues to make your...
