Pickering Village Ice Cream Shoppe — Restaurant in Ajax

Went today at 8:15pm, I ordered my ice cream from a blond worker and then I pointed at my brother to order his, my brother started saying his order to the worker - WHILE THEY MADE EYE CONTACT - and she just turned and walked away, started serving another customer who came in after us. This was incredibly rude to walk away while someone is literally in the middle of ordering (had already determined waffle cone with two scoops and was saying the flavour of ice cream when she walked away). The other worker who was nearby was also serving other customers at this point (who came in after us) while no one was acknowledging my brother. I had to get the attention of a completely different worker to help us while my husband and I stood there with our ice cream already for at least 5 minutes. I told the worker who finally served my brother about the blond girl who walked away and he didn’t even apologize for that and for us having to wait while other customers who came in after us had already paid and were leaving at this point. This place has a good selection of ice cream, including Kawartha Dairy ice cream. It is a little dated and could use an update but that’s probably a comment for the entire plaza.

When I came here last Friday, the girl who served me and my mom was super pleasant. I asked for samples, and she was super apologetic about their no sample policy. I missed the sign, that’s on me, but also an ice cream shop with no samples? I understand limiting the number, but none seems a bit extreme.

Anyway, as she was scooping our ice cream, the manager/owner was criticizing her for making the scoops too large RIGHT IN FRONT OF US. He was honestly being kind of rude about it, shaking his head and scoffing. It wasn’t done supportively, like if you were coaching someone new. Not only was it stingy behaviour, it was also unprofessional talking to her like that at all, much less in front of customers.

Staff and Owner always friendly. I am no longer living in Ajax, ON. I now live in Toronto and I still travel to Pickering to get the bets Ice Cream. I only when I have extra cash and my Wonderful Nephew George takes me, Usually walk out with 6 tubs of my favorite GRAPENUT the only place you can get it. 3 scoops in a tub for $11.00 Good deal. and the Ice Cream Does Not Taste Like Powdered Milk. For me this is in ONE sitting, this is me pampering myself before and during COVID-19, I would clean and change my bed linen, get myself a MANI/PEDI and binge watch my favorite Movie/TV shows. You can get 3 different flavor in the same tub. the ONLY thing I don't like is that they OPEN at 1400hrs 2PM. But what the Hay it's worth it. If you live in the area even if you don't please try it. We don't want these Small MOM/POP businesses CLOSING so HELP when you can.
