Sunset Grill — Restaurant in Ajax

I don't know what's going on here? I don't know if I've stepped back in time to a place where service still exists or if I'm in an alternate reality. The service at this restaurant is beyond anything I have ever witnessed. This guy Dan, who seems to be quarterbacking this whole operation is what we all imagine food and beverage to be.

Atmosphere is old school spoon. Keep it up. Food came out within 5 minutes of placing our order. Vegan hash no mushrooms, love it. I was putting ketchup on my hashbrowns and Dan heard the bottle was empty and came over immediately with a fresh bottle. As I sat here and explained to my son what good service was and why I was enjoying this breakfast so much, I told him I was going to write a Google Review. By son scoffed at the idea as if that was an embarrassing thing to do. No sooner, my son dropped his knife onto the floor under the table. As he was picking it up I saw Dan going to the silverware bin and coming back with clean knife. With my son's head, still under the table searching for the knife he had dropped, I started saying, "watch this, watch this", as I said "boom" Dan took the dirty knife from my son's left hand as he came up from under the table and placed the clean knife in his right hand. My son looked at me with the biggest smile and said, "write the review!"

Sunset Grill in Ajax is a wonderful place to spend your morning and whether you’re peckish or just wish to begin the day in a more relaxing manner they always succeed.

Sunset grill has timely severs and cooks who take pride in what they serve and take great care in your dining experience. They are very friendly and really wish to learn about what their customers enjoy most about being there.

You can share with them and they will listen. You can just dine and keep to yourself. They don’t pry, but they also are curious and thoughtful of each other and their customers. I find the environment calming and maybe it can have busier hours and is not the most fancy restaurant with little to catch your eye. It doesn’t need to be any of that though.

The quality of food being put out here has gone down hill. Forget asking for home fries cooked well/crunchy as they come barely cooked. They are more like boiled potatoes and flicked a few times on the grill. The cooks don’t listen at all. It is as though they don’t care the order request as you are getting what they choose to give you. My sausages lots of times are burnt on the outside and cold in the middle. Literally cold. The toast is barely brown. Just warm bread or cold bread with zero brown. This place use to have better food but now the cooks are pushing out slop. Well done homes fries means actually well done. Toast should come out brown and warm. Sausages should not be burnt and cold. They need to do better. I use to like this place and I keep going back hoping it improves but it never does.
