Popped in here almost by fluke but what a glorious find for yummy authentic, reasonably-priced, vietnamese food :)
Servers here are friendly, polite, and attentive. The restaurant may be run by a Vietnamese family and we are completely sold that this will be our GO-TO place for yummy Viet food in Durham.
There is SO much good aroma, depth, and flavour in their broths. We tried the traditional beef pho (house special) and the bun bo hue; the portions are generous and both were delicious. They don't mess around with their bun bo hue -- definitely has some kick!
The fish sauce wings are the best fish sauce wings we've ever had. Their fry game is no joke and that sauce....ooh drool worthy for sure (if that's your taste preference) :p
We also tried a traditional Viet sandwich. We aren't experts on this but the bread was warm AND crispy, which I believe is important for Viet sandwiches of this kind. And the ingredients inside worked very well together (especially with the added cilantro!)
One evident indication that this place is legit: a few hours after our meal, we weren't dying of thirst. Which means they aren't using excessive salt or msg --- shows care and love for their customers in our opinion!
Can't wait to try more menu items. 5-star all the way! Definitely will be back :) already recommended this place to people if they are in the...

Since coming back I've tried a number of Vietnamese places in Durham, Toronto, and Ottawa. There are some good ones out there, but Good Pho You is the best one I've found. It's one of the few places that has my favourite dish: Bun Cha.
I've been a few times and everything I've tried has been great. The Bahn Mi sandwiches are about the size of a 6" sub on a light, but crispy bun. The spring rolls (fresh and fried) are great. The Pho has a very fragrant broth ... you can really smell and taste the star anise. They have a number of variations of Bun Cha. All have the traditional vermicelli, lettuce, vegetables, and a light sauce that balances sweet and salty. The meat options are chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, etc. It's a very solid dish with a nice balance of flavours.
It's a small, casual place in a commercial plaza. There's maybe seating for 25-30 people. The owners are very friendly and just getting started with this restaurant. If you happen to be there at a peak time, the service can be slow because there are only two of them.
I will...

We had one the beef pho soup and one vegetarian pho soup (spicy). The beef pho was VERY good. The broth is rich yet still clean and light. The noodles were tastier than other pho places in the area. For the spicy vegetarian pho, the tofu was YUM-MY! Broth was delissssh. The only thing I would change (and this is just my personal preference) is that the noodles would be the same as the beef soups where the noodles are the flat rice noodles AND that the vegetarian soup could come in size small like the other soups.
We also had an appetizer. We had the fish sauce wings. OMG, they were so good! 😍 I ate at least half of the dozen wings, lol.
The staff was very nice, attentive, and considerate. One of the pho accidentally had the wrong broth, and the waiter told us about it immediately. They told us they would make a new soup, but swe said it was okay and they gave us a discount to make up for it as well as give us a smaller bowl of what the correct broth was to add to the soup.
All in all, good pho place that is good...
