New Golden National Family Restaurant, High River — Restaurant in Alberta

Just arrived from a busy work day in Okotoks to pick up our order which my wife phoned in, to be told she'd cancelled the order? I phoned her to check and she explained she'd phoned the restaurant put in the order but quote "I will call back if I wish to cancel the order". This was obviously interpreted as she wanted to cancel the order completely. I wasted my journey and it ruined our nights plan for food.

We won't ever go back there again !!

We'd prefer to drive to Mackenzie town to go to the golden national which delivers better food in our view.

Ordered a take out to see if things had changed here. A simple order - hot & sour soup no meat ( They put meat in it!!!)

We ordered Shanghai noodles with meat ( but no pork or veggies) they had to remake the order because they literally didn't put any meat in it.)

My Shanghai noodles with veggies had no normal vegetables ( broccoli, cauliflower, celery) just ribbon peppers, onion .

Everything that they could get wrong they did.

Whilst waiting for the remade dish another customer arrived to pick up a lobster meal and was told on arrival that they didn't have any lobster!! They take your phone number on the order but no one had called to explain this.

We definitely won't be back and do not recommend this restaurant based on our...

Edit In the time since I originally posted this review, I have noticed a significant improvement on the wait times. Like any good food, it still requires time to be prepared, but lately it is always ready when they say it will be. Plus, the food is still amazing! One of my favourite restaurants.

Let me start on the positive and say that the food here is amazing. The best restaurant in High River, food wise. The service is friendly, but unfortunately so very slow and unreliable. When I order pick up and am told 30 minutes (for example) I will get there and wait an additional 15 minutes. This happens every time. Tonight, I was told 1 hour 15 for p/u or 1 hour and 30 for delivery. It was my choice to wait that long, and knowing they are usually 15 minutes late, I still ordered. I called at an hour 40 and they were just starting my food and hoped the driver would be back by the time it was finished. I waited over 2 hours. So, if you want amazing food order from here, but make sure you don't have anywhere to be and snacks...

In the past we’ve had a good experience with the food here, only occasional and minor hiccups. However, two weeks ago a large group of us ordered take out and we were shocked when my 8 year old brought me his chicken ball to find that it had a staple baked into the batter! Thankfully he had only bitten into half of it and decided he didn’t like it. We called to let them know, the employee who answered seemed rather unbothered by this and just tried to explain how the staple could’ve ended up where it did and eventually offered a complimentary order of chicken balls. My husband ended up going in and speaking with a manager or owner to ensure that the right people were made aware. They did apologize and provided a refund. Unfortunately I can’t imagine ordering from here again, this was just far too unacceptable for a business that should be practicing proper food...
