Zhu's Ginger Beef — Restaurant in Alberta

Ordered takeout while visiting friends in Didsbury (Remembrance Day) . I honestly have no idea what that was that we ordered, but it wasn't good. We had chicken chow mein. It was OK. Oily though. Dry garlic spare ribs. It doesn't even register on the stars, so I'm giving it a high "WTF was that???" No salt. It was coated in a batter that was doughy and the meat, if you weren't biting into shards of bone, was really tough. That wasnt even close to dry garlic spare ribs. The one go to that can save a bad meal like this was the chicken fried rice but it was THE WORST rice I have ever had in my life. It didn't appear like fried rice and was goopy, yellow and had no resemblance to any fried rice I have ever eaten. It was gross. Last but not least, we had beef and broccoli. The broccoli was fine but the beef was awful. I had 1 bite and couldn't eat anymore. It was so dark in color, it reminded me of canned dog food I give my dog. We also ordered wonton soup, but it came in a small container and just by looking at it, I knew it wasn't going to be good. It was the broth that was a dark yellow. In my experience, I have never eaten wonton soup with broth that color. Hard nope for me! For all of us. No one ate it!

Presentation is important. 2 out of 5 stars for presentation. Selling food that resembles Chinese food, as advertised, is even less than 1 star. Zero if I could. The cost of the 4 dishes came out to just under $84. But I have to say that WAS NOT Chinese food. We wasted our money.

Don't waste your money here. This was not good in any way, shape or form. The food was straight up nasty. And I'm usually very generous with my reviews, but I have to be honest! Don't eat here. It's not good. Eating out is expensive, too, so seriously?? Maybe someone should open a place that sells good chinese food. Just go somewhere better than this place. Huge...

My birthday on probably their busiest day of the year and always my choice for amazing food! Seemed overwhelmed as they were so busy and missed an item on our order, although we did get something else in place of it! I was happy with the food I got and wasn't about to complain as I could tell they were just trying to fill orders and keep up. Minutes later the nice young gentleman that delivered our order showed back up with the item that was missed, apologized and made everything right! I wasn't or thinking of complaining, but so impressed that they noticed the mistake on their end and choose to make it right! That is why I and everyone should support these local businesses with great food and service! And FYI their servings are generous and everything on their menu...

We have been looking for a Good Chinese Restaurant for a while after moving to Olds. There are a few here and they are okay. Then I discovered Zhu's Ginger Beef and WOW! The interior is a bit Retro, something you might see as a typical restaurant but something that is not typical is the Food. The food is Very Flavorful and the Portions are Huge. The prices are on par with other Chinese Restaurants in town but the portions are Much Larger. The Staff/Owners are Very Friendly and the Food comes out Hot, Fresh and Quickly after ordering.
