Went there for breakfast as I passed into town, on a Friday around 10:00. The place was half-filled at best, and pretty quiet. One family was waiting in the hallway where a sign said « please wait to be seated. -Staff with attitude » What a welcoming introduction! For 5 to 10 minutes, they were ignored by the staff until one server lifted her head at them and yelled « you can sit here ». I was then the only one to be waiting in the entrance. For 10 to 15 more minutes, I waited there, alone, looking at the activity. Staff passed by, avoiding looking in my direction. Not a word to me. Not a hello. Not a smile. Not a « Won’t be long sir ». Nothing. The group who had just gotten a table got joined by a server with « will you want coffee or tea? » not making eye contact with them, keeping her eyes on her notepad below. Again, no hello, welcome to our restaurant, it’s nice to have you today or anything like that. I still had no table yet and already had enough. So I walked out and won’t come back. They didn’t even seem to notice or care. Not the kind of place I wanna...
Read morePretty standard breakfast fare, with nothing really being made from scratch. From our seats, we could see into the kitchen and we were disappointed. Home fries (or hash browns, whatever they call them) were from a big brown bag and when we got them, they were soggy, not crispy - had to add a lot of salt and ketchup to make them palatable. Crepes came out of a plastic package and were just reheated on the grill; gross pre made custard and rotten fruit (way past over ripe) ruined the flavor of the everything it touched. Omelette cooked to rubbery brown imperfection - omelettes and not supposed to be brown. Salad was unremarkable. Panini was delicious, loved the plentiful tea and coffee, and our waitress was busy but responsive to our needs. However, everything seemed to have a thin film of greasiness (from the table to every condiment on it) and I can only recommend a deep cleaning - I do not recommend...
Read moreExpecting it to be like a diner, BAB’s had the feel of a nice tea room. We both ordered the Eggs Benedict with Salmon and coffee. Food was ok although the salmon had a strong taste that neither of us liked. The main reason for my 2 star review was our server. She was an older, grey haired woman who seemed annoyed with us from the moment she first came over. We had to ask her to clear away the dishes of the previous diners. She never checked to see if we liked our food or if we wanted anything else. At the same time we watched all the other servers checking back with their tables. Finally, when she brought our identical meals out, the plates were very different. One plate had noticeably more sauce, more grapes, and almost double the amount of potatoes. If the same dish is going to 2 people at the same table, they should both have pretty much the same...
