"Reaching for mediocracy". I'm not one to bash restaurants, particularly in these covid times. But I found it hard to give this a two-star rating, I think a one star rating would have been more apt. The only reason why I didn't give it a one is that the food was edible, albeit disappointing. The reviews on this place are anything but excellent, so it is confounding to be writing about my subpar experience. That said, most reviews revolve around lunch or dinner. We went for breakfast and ordered two orders of single pancakes, the grill special, and the traditional breakfast. Let me start by saying the coffee was perfect, no complaints there. However, things unraveled from there. Of the four sets of utensils provided that were wrapped in napkins, two of them had to be sent back because they were filthy with food still caked on. Not a big deal, I would never mentioned it but then the food came. Each order of one pancake were just that: One medium sized pancake in the middle of a plate, $10.00. The bacon ordered on the traditional breakfast was barely cooked. But even with these issues, the flavor... Each item was so lackluster and overpowered by some sort of metallic flavor we left more than half of the food on the plate before we gave up. It almost tastes like the grill needed to be cleaned or the butter or oil was bad. The bread for the toast tasted like it had been stored in a damp bag, the eggs were flash cooked on the outside (crispy) and runny in the centre, and the hash browns were dry and crumbly and basically flavorless. The service was adequate, but I felt sorry for the lady serving us as it was pretty obvious she didn't want to be there. Thankfully we were one of two tables in the restaurant as things could have gotten hairy if there was another table. I hate giving less than 3 stars anywhere, especially since this is likely a local run business that employs folks and gives back to the community. My only hope is that they read this and know that they can do better. Much better.

Let me start by saying the service here was 5 stars easily. Also the egg was super rich and reminded me of the farm fresh eggs I grew up on. The hollandaise was also spot on just the way I like it. The bacon was a perfect balance of meat and little fat. The flavour of the pancakes was a delight! However, the hash browns were limp and unevenly cooked The pancakes had burned spots and the batter was overly beaten rendering the cakes too chewy. Could be a BC thing, but the same meal out east would be around $10/person.

Not much for us to choose (especially boxing day) from but if I had known that they were likely rushing out our order before closing I would have bought a sandwich from esso instead. Cheese on pizza completely burnt, fresh tomatoes thrown on top, fries soggy, brown, stale, disgusting really. And chicken fingers slightly edible. Will never eat here again. All for $50 - rip off.

Update sept 2023

The food is still excellent. My wife had the salmon. It was cooked perfectly, the rice was tasty, and the vegetables were fresh, not frozen. Overall, serving was huge. She was only able to eat about half the meal.

I had the grilled chicken sandwich. Chicken was spot on, well cooked but not dry at all. Fries were nicely done, too. Salmon meal was 30 bucks, starter salad 6 bucks, chicken burger 20, wine 7 bucks. For the quantity and quality, pretty fair price. We eat out a lot, many restaurants, particularly in the City are as high or higher and often the food is no where near as well prepared.

Service was attentive and very friendly. It's not the fanciest place but still one of the best restaurants on Highway 5.

I rated the place a 3 instead of 5 because it REALLY needs a good clean all over. There is dust everywhere and the bathrooms are filthy. Makes me a little worried about how clean the kitchen actually is.

First review july 2018 Greek run restaurant with an extensive menu including pizza and greek dishes. Food is small town pricy but at least the food is really good. Had liver and onions, BBQ. All were cooked perfectly and very tasty. Supper with two beer and a half litre of wine was $80.

Good deal here are the wine prices. Half litre of Mission Hill for $13.

The owner was the server, and with a full restaurant, he was hustling but just not enough staff, so service was friendly but pretty stretched.

I would definitely eat here again. It is one of the better restaurants...

2 out of 3 of us felt sick from eating here. I got the burger & salad - it tasted pretty good, but I felt gross after eating it for a full 36 hours, probably FOOD POISONING. My mom got a chicken salad meal with apples & pineapple, possibly called Paradise Chicken. The chicken was dry and the meal didn’t go together at all, and there was no dressing. According to her, it was just REPULSIVE. She also felt quite sick all night. My daughter ordered some chicken meal, but they only had chicken for one meal, so she switched to lasagna. It was also not great. They offered a discount on her meal. On the bill however, I noticed an “add-on” which we didn’t get and which was more than the discount. CHECK YOUR BILL IF YOU GO HERE. Also, owner yelled at me when I moved a wet chair away from the table we originally chose. We switched tables. This one was dirty so I used the water they gave me and my napkin to clean it up. The owner yelled at me again that the table was clean. He took out a dirty cloth and ‘cleaned’ it again. He yelled “It’s clean” at me again and then walked away. It was not. So I cleaned it again. The server was nice although he never checked on us, was impossible to get his attention, and messed up the bill. They have no competition in this town, so BRING YOUR OWN FOOD if you stay in this town and...
