Maars Burger Bar — Restaurant in Area H (Cultus Lake/Columbia Valley)

Save your money and go somewhere else. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

If I could give zero star I would. They don’t have half the stuff even McDonald’s would have (condiments, toppings, utensils). You pay a premium for tiny 4oz (pre-cooked weight) patty.

This meal is $14 bucks BEFORE TAX AND THIS IS ALL IT COMES WITH. No side, no drink. I literally had to walk to the connivence store next door to buy condiments. Oh, and there are no bathrooms so you can’t even wash your hands before and after you eat (which when it comes to hand held burgers you kind of want).

Originally we tried to order 2 burgers, 1 four pc chicken strips (also with no sides) and 1 fry to share for 3 people. No drinks. It came to over $50!!!!! We didn’t have more than $50 so we had to change our order. My burger came with just meat, cheese, and lettuce. I had to ask for additional tomato slice in picture. Normally I also like onions and pickles, but alas they don’t have that either.

What a joke. The tables were sticky and dirty. This place just banks on tourists who are unknowing and hungry. They should be ashamed of themselves!

And the burgers are not even good.

Zero stars, hope this business is gone by next summer and some quality people can move in to serve the...

Update: The owner reached out regarding my original review below and offered us a complimentary meal to try the fries again. While we both sadly found the fries to be once again lacking, the burgers were delicious and the owner was so incredibly lovely, so I've added a star and would definitely recommend trying this spot, as based on other reviews perhaps we are just picky fry eaters. Also, Huis shaved ice next door (owned by the same brothers) is absolutely incredible!

Original Review: A friend and I got takeout (boomer burger and bacon cheeseburger, both with fries) yesterday. The burger was delicious - good balance of toppings, seasonings, sauce, etc. and delicious fresh bun. However, we both found that the burger patty was very small, and the shredded lettuce made the burger unnecessarily messy to eat. Finally, the fries were unbelievably disappointing for a place that specializes in burgers and fries. I ended up throwing out most of mine.

I understand that there are growing pains with a new restaurant and will definitely give this place another shot in a few weeks/months, but I really hope they improve the fries and are a little more generous with the...

My first time at Maars, I had three burgers in one sitting! Hopefully that tells you how good these burgers are. The sauces, the meat, the toppings, and buns all fresh and delicious. I cannot say enough how satisfying these burgers are.

They have all the flavour while at the same time maintain a light, fresh presence that does not always accompany a good burger. Fries were excellent and very crispy but not heavy on the oil The atmosphere of the place is really chill and nice to be in. And great costumer service! I was well taken care of.

Not to mention they have local beers, ingredients, and partnerships with other local business, which is awesome for Chilliwack (aka the Jewel of the Valley)

These guys are out to make an excellent satisfying burger and they more than deliver. And its only going to getter better and better as they develop what they are doing and listen to what customers are saying.
