DO NOT GO WITH FOOD SERVICES HERE! THE OWNER IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! I have to say honestly this is the WORST experience I have ever had with a restaurant! I am getting married and I inquired with the owner about catering services for our wedding 10 months ago. He provided me an invoice which we originally discussed was for his food, delivery, for him to plate the food on the plates I provided, serve and then leave for $2600. I went with a main course only because his food is very expensive. I provided a deposit and I never got a receipt confirming that I paid and had to communicate with him a few times to verify if the date was locked in. My mom then called him to inquire about his 3 course meal just to see what the cost would look like if we went that route. He came back a few days later with an invoice totalling close to $6000 to serve 40 people! It was our belief that the owner saw an opportunity to price gauge us and attempted to take advantage of a mother’s willingness to make her child happy. My sister then called him to ask questions about the second invoice and he got offended. Therefore we decided to declined the second invoice and told him that we wanted to go back to the original invoice. He stopped responding to all forms of communication from us but I still wanted to go with him and overlook all of the negative experiences we have already encountered as time was of the essence and the wedding was a month away. So I sent my fiancé in as one last attempt to get the owner to work with us and provide us a final invoice. During the conversation with my fiancé the owner made sexist comments suggesting that he is glad to work with him rather than the ladies as we had him frustrated. Him and my fiancé seemed to be getting along well and he stated that he will have the final invoice for my fiancé by the end of that day! We never got it that day and contacted him several times to see when he would get it over to us so we can make a final payment, but still no response over a week later! I came to the conclusion that the problem was the owner and no matter who he dealt with he still couldn’t manage to get the job done in a timely manner. At that point I had cancel services with him and seek catering elsewhere. It’s my belief that the owner wanted to wait until the clock ran out and stick us with an exorbitant bill closer to the wedding date , which we would have had no choice but to pay. My fiancé dealt with the owner telling us that he had a non-refund policy and “ He would murder us in small claims court”. My fiancé also told him that this situation had me stressed out , to which the owner’s response was “What does her stress have to do with my business?” What he fails to realize is as a paying customer my stress is the reason you lost out on our business which impacted your ability to experience financial gain. We had to show him how much of a horrible person he would have to be to take money from us knowing he didn’t do anything for us and so he finally agreed to make an exception grant us a refund. We are reasonable people and also offered him $300 out of the deposit for his time as a gesture of good faith. It has now been several weeks and still no status on the refund. The only thing that seems to work is when I wrote a review last week in which he responded to me instantly that working with us has been the worst experience of his career! We acknowledged the fact that we made a change or two and had several people communicating to him however he failed to take accountability for the parts he played in loosing our business. So once again in good faith I took my initial review down in an effort to work one last time to resolve this matter but once again we are still left in the dark about the refund HE offered to give back. I will report this company to BBB and continue to seek legal action until this is made right! I also will leave my review up as a warning for others until this made right. On my first and most recent visit, I had the pleasure of trying two standout dishes. The Crispy Coconut Shrimp was a delightful start to the meal. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, encased in a golden, crispy coconut coating that added a tropical sweetness to each bite. The contrast of textures was spot-on, and the accompanying sweet chilli guava sauce and mango salsa complemented the dish beautifully.

For the main course, I opted for the Bahamian Jerk Chicken Bowl. The quarter chicken thighs tossed in Bahamian jerk BBQ were tender and infused with that signature jerk spice blend, offering a perfect balance of heat and aromatic flavours. The bowl was rounded out with traditional sides of coleslaw, macaroni, and sweet mango relish over peas n' rice, creating a satisfying and authentic Bahamian meal.

What truly set East Coast Conch apart was the exceptional service provided by Leonardo, the owner himself. It's always a good sign when the proprietor is hands-on in the restaurant, and Leonardo's attention to detail and genuine care for his patrons' experience was evident. He took very good care of us throughout the meal, offering recommendations and ensuring our needs were met.

The restaurant's ambience reflects the laid-back, colourful spirit of the Bahamas. I loved the giant mural of islands and the Bahamas Coat of Arms with their motto, "Forward Upward Onward Together." This vibrant décor, featuring the islands and Coat of Arms, creates an inviting atmosphere for diners.

East Coast Conch Restaurant is more than just a place to eat; it's a culinary journey to the Bahamas. With its delicious authentic dishes and personalised service from the owner Leonardo, it's a must-visit for anyone craving a taste of island life. Whether you're a conch connoisseur or new to Bahamian cuisine, this restaurant promises a memorable dining experience that will leave you planning your next visit before you've even finished your meal.

I was on my way home last night from work after picking up my wife and daughter and wanted to try something different for a change. I remembered seeing this restaurant and really didn't know what to expect so I decided to give it a try, and am I ever glad I did!

Wow! Where do I start? First off a super friendly gentleman greeted us at the door and sat us down at a table. If you own, operate or are a waiter in a restaurant in, or near Halifax, you should visit this restaurant and take notes. The hospitallity and genuine friendlyness of the staff is top notch and second to none. Our waiter was attentive, polite, knew the menu inside and out, and was just an all around genuine/helpful and happy person. This alone is enough to make me want to go back. I wish I would of asked his name to properly recognize him.

The menu was not large which usually means they are good at what they do and I have to agree with this.

I had never tried conch before and wanted to give it a shot so we ordered the conch fritter appetizer which were deep fried in a batter and they were amazing. This was also the first time I have had real authentic Jerk as we usually purchase it in a bottle. If you want to try some amazing Jerk chicken, this is the place ro go.

My daughter and wife shared coconut shrimp and sweet potatoe fries as they had already eaten not long before we went there so they really were not hungry. However they both loved their coconut shrimp.

I let my wife try some of my food and she loved it so much she wants to go back for her birthday! No complaints from me on that request 👍👍

This place is a genuine gem in many ways! Please note this is more of a fine dining experience so this is not the cheapest place you will eat at, but in my opinion the quality of their food and hospitality makes it worth it.
