Gold Star Chicken Halifax — Restaurant in Bedford

Went here with the family for super tonight... the hamburger was great and staff was nice, I didn't care for the fries but wasn't a big deal. As my little one was finishing up eating I was waiting for someone to come over so I could order us all desserts but before they could come, I noticed a smell of what I assume was someone vaping or something.. the smell became so strong that my little ones said they couldn't breathe. I tried to politely get the attention of a waitress who was sitting down at one of the tables on their phone (so I could get our bill) they didn't seem to notice so I asked if they could please bring the bill so we could pay because the smoke smell was way to strong and all of us was having a hard time breathing at that point. The waitress continued to say no one was smoking and denying the smell that was clearly strongly in the air. All I wanted to do was pay and get my kids out. They told me I could talk to a manager and called one over.. I again said I just want to pay and leave. Before that happened I said to my partner that I wouldn't mind making that place our usual spot and had a few things I wanted to try but definitely after today I will never go back again and have told others who were planning to go this week. So if you don't mind VERY strong (I assume vape smoke) smells that cuts off your airways then check this place out but if you prefer to be able to breathe and not have to cut your dining short then do yourself a favor and go...

Update Dec 2022: The quality of food at the restaurant has completely changed. The chicken wings were fried in old oil and smelled like fish oil. The wings were too salty and dry. We could not even finish them and felt sick after eating them.

The 360 fries used poor-quality frozen fries that were tasteless, not crispy and much larger in size. There were very few sweet potato fries which were better than potato fries but soggy. The fries were topped with store-bought cheez whiz sauce and a few sprigs of old red onions. The quantity has also decreased.

I do not recommend ordering anything from this restaurant. Complete waste of money, time and energy.

2021: Liked their 360 fries and waffles. The customer service varies. The fried chicken was also good for those who like fried chicken. I've also tried the burger and milkshake but do not recommend those from this restaurant. I would visit again just for the special fries and maybe waffles. Good place for casually...

Stopped in for Burger Week and had the mushroom Swiss burger and Cajun curly fries. Both were delicious, especially the fries. The price was amazing for a double burger. Service was friendly and food came out fast and hot. I am giving them a 3 star however because my food came in a black Styrofoam clam shell style take out box despite me eating in. The environmentalist inside of me was really disappointed as I try to avoid single use items especially Styrofoam. I had to ask for a fork, which was plastic and when I ordered a glass of water was told they only sell bottles of water - more waste. The nearby green garbage can was filled with all this single use products. Again, the food was great but I hope they have plans in the future to invest in some dishes or even compostable paper plates. I'd pay...
