I initially planned to go for a meal. When I arrived, a middle-aged woman, who appeared to be the manager, was conducting an interview in the lobby with a girl who had come to apply for a waitress position. Since they seemed busy, I followed the usual practice of waiting at the door to be seated by a server. About five minutes later, the interview ended, and this "manager" started loudly praising the interviewee's looks in Chinese to the other staff. At this moment, a man walked in and went straight to the front desk to pick up his takeout, so I followed in and greeted the manager with "excuse me." To my surprise, instead of asking, "how can I help you," she rudely responded with, "what do you want?" It was then I realized that she mistook me for another job applicant. Just because I am a woman and look Asian, she assumed that if I appeared at the door at noon, I couldn't possibly be a customer. All of this happened in the dining area, right in front of all the other customers. After realizing her mistake, she grabbed my hand and kept apologizing, saying her earlier neglect was because she was conducting an interview. Setting aside the fact that holding an interview during peak dining hours in a cramped and crowded restaurant is already disruptive to other diners, this was an act of serious discrimination. Such a crude and disgraceful mistake makes me wonder how she even got to this position, and I will never return to this...
Read moreMaybe it was because I came at the end of the day but the quality of the food was not as high quality as I was expecting and I would really question the value you're getting for the prices being charged. However the service I was received was good.
I ordered sweet potato croquettes and the assorted sashimi dinner which came with a miso soup and house salad.
The miso soup seemed to lack enough dashi. It seemed more like basic chicken stock that they dumped a whole wad of miso paste into. The salad was alright.
The outside of the croquettes had a thin layer of crispiness that was almost barely there and the inside was way too mushy that it could barely hold its form when picked up.
Most of the pieces of sashimi tasted like they had just been defrosted after being frozen for a while. The tuna and albacore tasted almost powdery in texture and had no chewiness that I would normally expect out of thick slices like the ones provided. The only redeeming pieces were the butterfish which are hard to mess up anyways.
Overall, a little disappointed with the food and would not recommend this chain if you're looking for high quality...
Read moreWorst dining experience of my life. Second time in a row. Arrived at 5:15pm, ordered edamame while I was waiting for my wife and daughter to arrive, and within a few minutes I placed the order for my sushi (deluxe maki) as I knew it would take the longest to prepare. 15min later my wife arrives…. Still no edamame, so I remind that I ordered it, then it comes out cold. We order the rest of the food….. wait about 15more minutes and the waitress is still implementing our order into the computer. Still no soup or salad which comes with our meals…. So again, I remind them this, shortly after it comes. Another 15 pasts and my wife gets her meal. (Still waiting for my sushi) another 15min passes and my sushi still hasn’t come!!! It’s been an HOUR since I put in my order!! 10min later that comes, and it’s not even what I ordered. Still waiting for the kids rice and chicken. By this point I’m frustrated beyond reason. I asked to cancel the kids meals, ask for the bill and left. Then had to deal with two hungry and cranky kids (3yo and 7yo) and it’s almost 7pm. Absolutely ...
