We came this evening on Canada Day for dinner & the reservation lady at the door who received us was rude and had an attitude. She was wearing a full black T-shirt and black tights. We were four of us waiting for the table. There were three tables vacant yet she told us to wait for 20 minutes. People who came before us were taken in and when we inquired she snubbed us saying we have to wait. We are Canadians visiting from Toronto since we were brown probably she was profiling her customers. I am sure this is not what Skippers represents. We came to Skipper's with great expectations but we were totally disappointed. Please have your staff trained on inclusive diversity as this is what the new Canada is. Happy Canada Day from a proud Canadian immigrant.
I read your reply. Let me clarify to your response in a bit more clarity. We came to you restaurant as we had heard about it a lot. We were on tour of Newfoundland and Labrador and we traveled all the way from St. John's to Red Bay Labrador. Along the way we stopped at many restaurants and we have waited 30 to 40 mins at other restaurants to be seated. The only difference was that all of them were very polite and kind except at your restaurant. We walked in behind a couple and as we were told we did wait for 25 mins. The couple who came ahead of us were seated in and then another 2 ladies that came in behind us were also seated. While we waited we saw three tables were vacant and since the server never came back to us we went to ask her and she bluntly replied I didn't call your name and she walked away. That was pretty rude. She could have been polite. Well if customer service is not important, than you are justified in...

Skipper’s is truly a magical place — perched near the edge of the Atlantic, with breathtaking views of the ocean and passing boats. The atmosphere is peaceful and inviting, making it the perfect escape from the noise and stress of the city.
The food is absolutely delicious — fresh, well-prepared, and generously served. Whether you choose the lobster or the fish and chips, you’re in for a real treat. Every bite feels like a taste of the ocean. The service is outstanding; the staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely care about making your experience memorable.
This place has a unique charm — simple, cozy, and unforgettable. It’s the kind of restaurant where time slows down and you can truly relax.
There aren’t many tables and lots of people want to get in, so make sure to arrive early. But even if you have to wait, you can order a drink and enjoy the view while you wait for your table. It’s more...
Read moreThe restaurant is cute and quaint, sitting on the ocean with a nice view of the harbour and with locally crafted items strewn about. The price of beer was excellent and they had a great selection. We ordered the feature of the day, Lobster rolls with salad and onion rings. To our dismay, this “roll” left us confused…we were unsure if it was a feature or a special. We expected a fresh roll but we were served a sandwich bun that was cold and old and made us wonder if the lobster was fresh. That being said, the lobster mix did taste good and the onion rings and salad were really tasty and huge!
The service left much to be desired. We waited for quite some time as there was no staff to be seen, once we were seated the service mildly improved, however, our server was a bit curt but she was nice enough.
Unfortunately, we likely will not return to this establishment on...
