Daquiri's Restaurant — Restaurant in Bouctouche

Okay so before I write this, I don't put any of this on our waitress, she was doing the best she could with a busy restaurant and very limited resources. When there wasn't a drink menu to be found, she came back with a hand-written list of the drinks. I definitely appreciate that effort. Plus, our meals were all comped so to me, that said she tried.

We were told what happened was the usual cook had recently left and they were training a new one. It was rough needless to say. Their menu wasn't the full page I see in other photos; it was a little card on the table where you usually see specials. We ordered two burgers with fries & a poutine.

The burgers came disassembled; the only thing on the bun was a burnt patty with mayo in a cup on the side and all toppings of lettuce, tomato & diced onions put on the plate (my husband asked for no tomatoes & got it anyway). Plus we had no cutlery so he had to put mayo on with a fry before another customer saw and offered her set. The burger was not only burnt but had no flavour, just a lump of plain ground beef. We'd ordered two gravies & only received one, waiting on that and my poutine. When they came, the gravy was ice cold with that burnt rim around the edge that told it was microwaved. Also I knew because my cheese curds were hard as a rock.

I only ate because I was starved after waiting an hour for all this but my companions couldn't do it. Thank God we were given our meals for free as the idea of paying for what we received seemed frustrating.

A few of my work colleagues and myself were there in early July and everything was great. Good food, good drinks and wonderful service.

However, I just returned yesterday (mid-august) with my husband and we unfortunately won't be back anytime soon. Dirty table was never wiped down and the menus were dropped (pretty much thrown, really) by the waitress walking past to serve another customer, without so much of an "I'll be right back" or any sort of eye contact. The menu had been drastically reduced since my last visit, to the point where we almost got up and went elsewhere, but we decided to order anyways. I had the poutine and the nachos, and my husband had the "Chuck's" cheeseburger. The poutine was ok but the little bit of gravy on it wasn't even enough to melt the cheese. As for the nachos, I don't even know what to say. Maybe 6-7 small tomato cubes, a few onions and green peppers on what looked like cheap store bought chips - the thick round ones - topped with cheese and popped in the microwave (it was obvious by the way the cheese was fried to a crisp on the edges and the center being a soggy/chewy mess). My husband said his burger was ok but the bun was cold and so were his fries.

Spending money on a meal like this was very disappointing to...

Took out of town family for a feed of clams and chips. Once we ordered it took 1 hour and 15 mins to get our food. It wasn’t overly busy either so didn’t make much sense. Waitress told us 3 times over that time that if shouldn’t be much longer…. Waitress told us clams were great because they are whole clams and not strips like some places serve. Big disappointment as 3 of our plates came with a few whole clams but far more scrap pieces of batter. I’d have been happy with at least strips to be honest. There was no consistency in the plates. Worst plate of clams I’ve seen was my brother’s. He had almost no clams so I asked why he had so little (I wasn’t being picky but it was pathetic he basically had a 24 dollar plate of fries with some scraps of clams sprinkled over part of them). Waitress looked at his plate when I asked why the difference and she scowled “well I didn’t count them”. Up to that point I wasn’t upset about the service from waitress. She brought him a little dish of scraps to make up the difference. My wife got her plate last and it looked really really good. Full clams and plenty of them. So inconsistent.
