I am from Ahmedabad but never coming back here again! One piece of feedback to the management - DO NOT CLAIM TO HAVE VEGAN FOOD IF YOUR STAFF AND CHEF DOESN"T EVEN KNOW WHAT VEGAN MEANS. And I am saying this because they actually didn't know what vegan meant. While I am dairy-free because of non-medical reasons, someday, if someone with a dairy allergy ends up having dairy-based food which they present as dairy-free, and gets a reaction due to that, these folks will end up getting sued.
The menu isn't thorough either as they miss out on important ingredients. We ordered Chinese Bhel since the description didn't mention any dairy ingredients but were surprised to find paneer in it (salute to the person who came up with the idea to put paneer in a Chinese Bhel). Having said all this, I really liked to Pav Bhaji (vegan). The Pulav was great too but not before it was sent back because, even after specifying to make it vegan, the chef ended up topping it with butter. We also ordered Masala Pav (Pav with Bhaji gravy) and it was amazing as well. They do make really good food but don't understand the concept of vegan.
The staff did actually puzzle us. They are not bad but sometimes they need to leave their customers alone to enjoy the food instead of constantly hovering over. There is also some lack of internal communication. Last time we went, we were actually waiting for one of our friends to arrive so we asked the gentleman at the front that we will wait outside. However, he said it is okay to be seated inside and wait - which was a nice gesture. However, he perhaps didn't communicate it inside and four different servers came up to us to ask if we are ready to order. This, in spite, of telling them that we are waiting for a few other folks to arrive before we order. They also need to be trained to be sensitive to vegan food habit as they insisted on milkshakes even after knowing that we are vegan - giving an impression that they didn't know or understood what vegan means. The ambiance is good - quite contemporary. They have the photo of their old street cart (from where they started their business in India) on the menu. I would have loved to see that picture on the wall and maybe even a few other pictures of Ahmedabad city where they are really famous. That might actually make customers feel more at home. Just a suggestion.
So, vegans may actually avoid this place since they aren't really sure about the ingredients as well as the understanding of vegan food. Otherwise, for others, this is a good place to have some amazing...
Read moreI rarely write reviews for any business, but this was the worst experience so I decided to write.
Very bad experience
Yesterday I ordered pav bhaji takeout for 15 people (actual guests were only 8) for an event at my place. It was a catering order placed in advance a day before. They confirmed a pickup time for the day.
When I visited the Brampton location, they did not have it ready, and I needed to wait for half an hour. I had to call my wife and let the guests know the food would be delayed by more than an hour.
Then they gave me in the big tray of 25 people saying that they are out of small trays and I understood and they mentioned the food is for 15 guests.(as per order size) Surprisingly, they did not give us enough food all my guests can see. We were only 8 guests to eat the food but we did not have enough bhaji and it was so embarrassing in front of my guests.
I called them and asked about this and they were not ready to accept their error even, next day Manager MEET called he was saying it was no error at their part and he was saying that we have different diet and we must have ate more than what people usually eat. Bhai nobody born yesterday and its not first time our order with your location so understand this if customer called you twice and discuss this issue then this serious. You have 1 girl working outside in the dinning area Hailey and it was Saturday nigjt. and another girl is working In and out of kitchen. You were running tight ship, and you are not even considering that your staff made a mistake . Great
I understand mistakes happen, but not taking an ownership of such mistakes and blaming your customers in stead does not go long way.
This restaurant owner/manager Meet is unwilling to accept their mistakes and put any efforts to improve their...
Read moreDuring my recent visit to Honest Restaurant in Brampton, I had the pleasure of indulging in their flavorful Bhaji Pav. The dish exceeded my expectations and left me satisfied with its authentic taste and presentation. The Bhaji, a deliciously spiced vegetable curry, was cooked to perfection. The blend of aromatic spices, including turmeric, cumin, and coriander, created a rich and flavorsome base. The vegetables, such as onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes, were cooked just right, maintaining a desirable texture. Served alongside the Bhaji were soft and buttery Pav buns, the perfect accompaniment to soak up the savory curry. The buns were fresh and had a slight crispness on the outside, adding a delightful contrast to the tender Bhaji. The portion size was generous, providing a satisfying meal. The dish was well-balanced and packed with flavors that transported me to the streets of Mumbai, where Bhaji Pav is a popular street food delicacy. Overall, the Bhaji Pav at Honest Restaurant impressed me with its authentic taste, skillful preparation, and generous portions. I highly recommend trying this dish for a delightful and satisfying culinary experience. Rating: 7 out of 10.
The Bhakri Pizza's crispy yet tender Bhakri base provides a rustic and flavorful foundation for the medley of fresh vegetables, aromatic spices, and generous cheese toppings. Reminiscent of the famous Choice Pizza in Navrangpura, Ahmedabad, the fusion of flavors in Honest Restaurant's Bhakri Pizza is a delightful surprise.

Pulao was average. I was expecting it along with small portion of salty yogurt but disappointed.
