Well! seems like I am not the only one who likes going to Indian Sweet Master to satisfy my Indian food craving. In last couple of months we have been there for about 3-4 times. The creative menu options keep me bringing back to the restaurant. Below is my review about the food and service we received at Indian Sweet Master.
Items tried so far: Gup-Shup platter - 5/5 | Brings back the countless memories of eating street food in India. Yaar Anmulle thali - 4/5 | Though the count of curries served is good, however the concept doesn't work really well. By the time thali arrives, majority of the curries are not warm enough and do not taste as good as they would otherwise. My personal opinion is to limit the count of curries and increase the quantity of the curries that are served. From economies of restaurant perspective you still serving the same amount of food, however this time customer would be able to enjoy the warm curries with just enough quantities. Saag-Makke di roti - 5/5 | Really good option for people who loves this combo. The best part is that it comes with gud (jaggery) and achar that takes me back to the road side dhabas on highways in haryana and Punjab. Butter chicken - 3/5 | Butter chicken curry is one of the best in GTA area. I could feel the escence of Kewra that uplifts the overall flavor of the curry. I was not really pleased with the other half of the recipe - the chicken itself! Chicken pieces are not grilled and taste like they were frozen. I would highly recommend the chefs to use the fresh chicken and grill it to perfection before marrying them with the delicious curry. Rabri Faluda - One item that you can die for. Everything is just in the right proportion to satisfy your sweet tooth craving. Perfectly topped with the dry fruits.
Hospitality Service Review All the staff members are super friendly and helps you make decision with the dishes, if you want to try something new. On our first visit to the restaurant we were served by Harsh. My family developed a connect with her right on our first visit. Every time we visit now, we want Harsh to server us. We usually take a long time in placing our order at a restaurant, Harsh has been very patient with us in deciding the order. Now that she knows us and the kind of food we order, she often recommend the dishes from her own side. I must tell we have not been disappointed with her recommendations. She is open for the feedback on the service and the food. Always take the feedback with positive attitude (a must for anyone working in the hospitality industries). My toddler enjoys Harsh's presence and keep looking at her when she is serving the other tables. Keep it up Girl! Other team members are also great and backup each other on their respective tables.
Overall restaurant review: Ambience is not really fancy but very practical. They have a dedicated table, specialy set for the families that are there to celebrate their birthday/anniversary. Staff sings the birthday songs for the families and make them feel special. AND it's all free! Indian Sweet Master is not a restaurant, it's an experience that allows you to connect to your best life memories (often comes through food) and let you feel comfortable with their warm hospitality. There are very few improvement areas in my personal opinion but that's always there, as nothing in this world is perfect! My best wishes to the owner and staff of the Indian Sweet Master restaurant (Brampton, ON). Keep spreading smiles and keep serving...
Read moreWent there on a friday night. We tried calling them thrice to make a reservation but nobody picked up, so we thought it might be a walk-in. However, as soon as we entered, we were denied seating on the basis that we didnt make any reservation and had to wait for a min of 20 mins post which they will call us.
So we went to the other side of the restaurant (street food area) and found a table after waiting for about 15 mins. A server, i guess her name was Simran, she came and took our order. I asked her to bring 1 dish after we are done with the appetizers and with a very negative attitude she replied " i am not taking any recommendations". First of all, what does that mean, second - whats that attidude ?
Anyway, moving on, after 10 more mins, there's a new customer on our table and the same server came to take their order. Then she turns towards me and asks "what do you want to order?" I told her we are waiting for our order and its been about 10-12 mins. This girl asks me "you sure you gave your order? Who took it" ... really?? .. but thats okay i didnt say anything.. so she says (without realising she was the one who took the order) "chlo theek hai kya order hai" and as i am about to repeat, she turns and goes to another table to tell someone to wait and then leaves from there. I dont see her for another 5 mins.. horrible behaviour!!
And my experience was almost spoilt till a girl in the dinning area agreed to accommodate date.( PS. Its been like 40 mins or more, we didnt receive any call but had to go inside and wait there to be seated. Talk about first come first serve or waitlist).
The food was good. I really liked the channa bhatura - very light and not oily. The presentation was really nice.
Another must try is their mango falooda shake. Also enjoyed the rabri falooda.
The place is really busy and left totally to the mercy of the servers. I saw only 1 girl who was working really hard alongside keeping up the standard of customer service expected. I dont know her name but she was short, brown and i guess had knock knees (mentioning this only so that she is identified and gets the much deserved...
Read moreWell, folks, if you’re looking for the ultimate “What not to do” guide in running a restaurant, look no further than Indian Sweet Master. My visit there felt like being an unwilling participant in a poorly written sitcom—one that I’m happy to say I’ll never be watching again.
First off, the parking lot. Ever wondered what it’s like to navigate a bumper car track with actual cars? Welcome to the Indian Sweet Master parking experience! People were coming up to my car like I was giving out free samples. Touching it, peeking inside—perhaps they thought I had some mortgage payments they’ve been waiting for. Spoiler alert: I didn’t, and after this visit, I never will.
Inside, the chaos was just beginning. There was no line, no order—just a free-for-all that made Black Friday look like a well-organized symphony. Indian Uber drivers seemed to have VIP passes with the Indian servers.. cutting ahead like they were on a mission from the gods of takeout.
Meanwhile, the rest of us mere mortals were left to fend for ourselves in what I can only describe as a culinary slum.
The staff, who I assume were performing some kind of avant-garde theater piece where they pretend not to speak English. Not a word. Not a nod. Nothing. They managed to ignore me for a full 15 minutes while my food sat there, mocking me with its readiness. It was almost impressive how well they played their parts in this absurd farce.
I lived in Brampton all of my life.. so let’s be real here—when you’re the only non-Indian black guy in the room, and everyone around you is getting served while you’re treated like an invisible man, the message isn’t hard to read. The punchline? They apparently don’t care if you’re left waiting forever. Bravo, Indian Sweet Master, for mastering the art of making your customers feel utterly unwelcome.
But hey, I take comfort in knowing that I, along with all of my Canadian friends, won’t be making a return appearance to this circus. Indian Sweet Master, you’ve earned your place as the butt of the joke—only this time, the...
