This restaurant refused to serve a pregnant woman fish because they were worried about a “fine” if they got food poisoning. Said they heard it happened to one of their friends’ restaurants.
When I informed them that a grown women could make her own choices with respect to what to eat, and - under the care and supervision of a doctor - was aware that the “raw fish” guidelines are outdated and no longer recommended, they doubled down and still refused to serve.
If they’re worried about a fine or trouble, they should be more concerned about the fact that it is discrimination to refuse to serve food to a person because of their pregnancy. Staff weren’t being asked for their medical advice, and they were - as far as I could tell - in no position to give it.
Aside from the fact that the entire situation was humiliating, patronizing, and disgusting, I would recommend steering clear of the place given that clearly the quality of their food is questionable if they refuse to serve it upon request. I’ve never seen anything like it, and hope to never see or...
Read moreWhen I first called to order to go, the person on the phone sounded annoyed, monotone, and bored. When we got there I realized it was a young boy that was answering the phone which made a bit more sense, but its still a restaurant and answering the phone nicely should be normal. Once I was there and paid for my order, the young boy didn't make eye contact with me the entire time. His eyes were glued on the tv.. again, I get it, he's young, BUT its a restaurant. Even when he asked if I wanted the receipt, he handed It to me without even facing my direction. There was about an hour and a bit before the restaurant was supposed to close but all the chairs were up on the tables so I stood for over 15 minutes waiting for my order. The sushi was pretty average overall but I've never had sushi in brantford so cannot comment on how it compares. I am all for supporting family run businesses, I think they're awesome. I still however believe in professionalism and it seemed a little inappropriate under the...
Read moreUpdating my review from a few years ago. Unfortunately, not for the best. I NEVER leave bad reviews and genuinely hope this was just a bad night because when we last had food from here a few years ago, it was great... Tonight was absolutely awful and I don't want anyone else to waste their hard earned money thinking they're getting a treat meal. We ordered the Dinner for 3 (general tso's chicken, chicken balls, beef with almonds, egg rolls, chicken fried rice) and it ALL tasted like reheated leftovers. No crispiness at all to any of the chicken, and extremely dry. Only reason General Tso's was not dry was because it was drenched in sauce but same not fresh taste. Only thing that was somewhat crispy and hot were the egg rolls but even those were not appetizing. Everything else was barely warm to the touch, again except the egg rolls that were the only thing that seemed fresh out of the fryer. 45 minute wait for food that was not fresh at all. Very...
