Halibut House Fish and Chips — Restaurant in Brantford

I tried the haddock & chips Monday dec 28th 2020 & it was totally awesome & the fish was massive with very good gravy. Couldn't wait to try the cod & chips with gravy the following wednesday & it was horrible. the young woman cook obviously removed the fish from the oil & it must of had a 2 inch thick strip of oil from the fryer to my container, i didnt expect that at all & it made a huge costly mess in my back seat of my car. She couldnt let it drain for at least 2 seconds, that would of been made a massive improvement, half the fish was uneatable from being drowned in oil & the rest was to soggy to pick up, the gravy was watery & maybe 60% full placed sideways inside the paper wrapping with the box containing the food. i wish i got half as much gravy as i did oil. she must really hate her job. i even tipped her very well. i love the portions & cannot wait to go back but i guess i have to tell them too drain it then rip it open in my car to be sure its half decent then let out most the hat so i get home with a...

Halibut House has the best fish and chips I have ever tasted. The batter is so clean crispy not heavy or greasy. It has got to be the best batter I have had on fish. Lorna our server, went out of her way to look after my 91 year old father, He suffered a stroke 6 years ago and his speech is not the best.She was wonderful with him and had him laughing and singing. Not too many servers pay attention to the elderly and especially when they are handicapped and we thank you Lorna for this. My dad also gets cold easily and he mentioned to my mom he was cold and Lorna came to my dad and put a Chefs jacket on his shoulders. Very appreciated. Not only was the food delicious and the atmosphere excellent, we will be coming back for sure. Drove by a few time prior too being open , Once opened a friend and I went on our Lunch break we walked in ( During Covid ) very clean , seating arrangements were nicely spread out ...
