I worked at McDonald’s for a few months, and it was one of the worst job experiences I’ve had. The overall environment was toxic, and the way employees were treated was unacceptable.
Inappropriate Treatment and Disrespect Management consistently treated employees poorly, with little regard for respect or basic decency. Any issues we raised were not only ignored but often met with hostility. Constructive feedback was non-existent, and instead, we were subjected to criticism and blame for things beyond our control. This made the workplace feel hostile and unsafe, leaving us constantly stressed and anxious.
Lack of Support and Appreciation There was zero recognition for hard work, no support from supervisors, and a complete disregard for employee well-being. We were expected to work through breaks, and shifts were often extended without notice or consideration for our personal time. The lack of appreciation was blatant, and it was clear that management saw us as easily replaceable.
Poor Training and Unrealistic Expectations The training was rushed and inadequate, leaving us unprepared for the fast-paced environment. Despite this, we were expected to meet unrealistic expectations with no guidance or help. This resulted in a chaotic and stressful atmosphere where mistakes were common, but support was non-existent.
Deteriorating Employee Morale The constant mistreatment and lack of support crushed employee morale. The turnover was extremely high because most people couldn’t stand the conditions, and it wasn’t uncommon to see new faces every week. McDonald’s seemed completely indifferent to the way they treated their employees, and it was clear that they prioritized profits over people.
Overall Assessment If you value your mental health and self-respect, I would strongly advise against working at McDonald’s. The environment is toxic, and management’s approach is entirely inappropriate. There are far better workplaces that will actually respect and support you. Working at McDonald’s was a regrettable experience, and I wouldn’t wish...
Read moreIt was nice to hear that a McDonald's was coming to West Brant but this place is so deplorable I will still drive to Stanley St. or Wayne Gretzky. Service is so slow, to alleviate this problem they decided to install a padded leaning bench so you are more comfortable while you wait. 90% of the time your order is wrong, I strongly recommend checking your order before you leave the drive thru window, this includes unwrapping your food to make sure it is what you ordered. I stopped in for a double cheeseburger, I was in a hurry so I took it & left. If I hadn't have been so far from the restaurant when I opened the wrapper I would have taken it back. My double cheeseburger was a single cheeseburger between the bottom & middle bun of a big mac. I went in tonight for the last time, the girl on the cash was totally uninterested in what she was doing, I was holding my money waiting for her to take it but she was too busy watching what was going on elsewhere so I left it on the counter. They weren't busy at all, lots of kids working, service was the usual slow wait. We picked up our trays when we were finished to go throw out our garbage, the garbage containers were overflowing, there was garbage on the floor & the trays were piling up on top, complete with more garbage because there wasn't anywhere to throw it. This is the worst McDonald's I have ever been into, head office needs to do an undercover visit. I will be...
Read moreI had an absolutely terrible experience at this McDonald’s, and I feel compelled to share my dissatisfaction. I went through the drive-thru, and when I pulled up to the speaker, I politely said “hello.” There was complete silence. I waited a few seconds, thinking maybe they were busy, and said “hello” again—still no response. After a third attempt, the employee finally answered, but what happened next was beyond unacceptable.
When I arrived at the window to get my food, the employee rudely snapped at me, saying, “Don’t say hello a million times!” in the most unprofessional and disrespectful tone imaginable. she acted like I was the problem when all I did was try to get some basic acknowledgment. The way she spoke to me was not only unprofessional but downright rude. she rudely shut the window in my face while I was still talking. I felt completely disrespected. To make matters worse, there was no apology—just a rude, dismissive attitude. I have never experienced such unprofessionalism at a McDonald’s before, and it left a very bad impression. If employees here can’t handle simple customer interactions with even the slightest bit of courtesy, then maybe they shouldn’t be working in customer service.
I will think twice before coming back to this location. Management seriously needs to train their staff on basic customer service skills because this was completely...
