I would have shown the popcorn chicken, but the page refreshed and my photo didn’t save to the gallery.
I was hungry so I dug into the popcorn chicken right away! The popcorn chicken (12 pieces, part of a Father’s Day special) was a very sweet gesture by the staff to mention—even though I’m not a father (nor will I ever be). I had actually come, unbeknownst to her, to celebrate my brother with a little Father’s Day treat since he lives in the area.
As for the popcorn chicken itself—I wouldn’t exactly call it tasty; the texture and flavour felt quite processed, more like something that might appeal to kids. It also didn’t have much crunch, which I would have liked. That said, I’m still glad she kindly offered me the chance to try both popcorn chicken and chicken strips for the price of one—a very thoughtful gesture.
The chicken strips (3 pieces) were better in comparison—more seasoning and a better overall texture.
For my drink, I ordered a Passion Fruit Earl Grey Tea (large, little ice—though it was marked as no ice on the label, it was prepared exactly as I wanted). That gets a 👍 from me! Very complimentary flavours—the combo I chose worked really well. I hadn’t tried this specific mix before, though I’ve never been disappointed by their drinks in the past, and this one lived up to it too.
I had also ordered a macaron (which came out beautifully). It didn’t arrive with the rest of my order, so after a little while I rang the bell and called out: “I didn’t get my macaron that I ordered!” The staff member was in the back and may have thought I was another customer waiting to order. Once I clarified, she remembered she hadn’t prepared it yet and apologized sincerely.
It had gotten quite busy after I arrived—what can I say, I must bring the train behind me! 🚂 Given the rush, I’d gently suggest they consider hiring someone to help in the back during those peak moments — it would really help the flow.
As for the macaron itself—it was delightful and rich with flavour! They weren’t stingy at all with the filling—the middle bit was generous and luscious. Absolutely worth it.
Previously, I’ve also tried their cake pops—those were very nice as well! Another good little treat I’d happily recommend.
Overall, my order came to under $20 CAD, which I found very reasonable for the...
Read moreI am a loyal customer and I’ve ordered delivery from this place (via uber) since they’ve opened, and have walked in and ordered aswell. At first, the quality was worth the price, however in the past two months or so the quality has declined significantly. The sausage english muffins was burnt, as in the english muffin was charred and dark brown, but the dish as a whole was somehow cold ??? the “ginger caramel spice cake” i’ve ordered probably atleast twice a month consistently was not a the same as before. The packaging for the “spice cake” changed from paper to glass/plastic, and the cake is much smaller than before (atleast half an inch smaller in diameter shorter aswell). it also does not taste the same, the “caramel sauce” on top is now bitter, and it did not come warmed at all.
additionally, their prices for the yopokki rice cake cups they sell are wayyyy too high. they charge 6$ for a cup of rice cakes, compared to another store in the area with the same cups which charges 4.99$ (which is already kind of high) for the same cup. even that is high. charging higher prices for a budget cup noodle/rice cake defeats the purpose of the product, and is slimey.
I’m not sure if this palgong location has changed suppliers or if overall the company has declined in quality, but charging nearly 10$ (on uber) for a TINY “caramel spice cake” that doesn’t taste like caramel anymore, and 6.50$ for a burnt english muffin that arrived cold and...
Read moreI have been to Palgong numerous times because of how amazing the bubble tea is, the fantastic atmosphere and warm customer service. They have a nice loyalty program, and the owner seems very kind and I often see him offer to make free deliveries for the people in the downtown area! My absolute favorite is the Jakemans Maple Syrup milk tea. Went not long ago with a larger group of friends, the restaurant was quick and didn't mind that we ourselves took some time because we had some people who had restrictions on what they could have dietary wise and some who had just never had it before! The price is average for bubble tea, but the sweets really take the cake. My absolute favorite was one of their Macarons oh my goodness I've been thinking about them ever since! Do yourself a favor, go spend 10$ on a bubble tea and macarons it is a treat...
