Visiting Bromont for the holidays and were very excited to try Chardo. I had the tasting menu with wine and my bf had several single dishes - the leek and boar. Most of our dishes were quite good - subtle and rich flavors dancing around in our mouths. I suppose the only reason we did not give 5 stars was the selection of items on the tasting menu. The 5 courses included both seal, and the blood pudding/sausage with heart, and beet puree. I'd like to think of myself as a very adventurous eater but a plate of blood red everything was a bit much - I did try everything on the plate but it was very sweet and the presentation made it almost impossible to stomach for me. I'm certain it was prepared perfectly and that anyone who is used to black pudding would have found it delightful. However it seemed odd to me to include such a "challenging" dish on a tasting menu, especially when the waiter wisked my plate away after he looked at my face, implying my experience was not isolated and that many patrons have found this course unpalatable. I absolutely knew this may happen when I opted for the tasting menu and am not disappointed in my choice especially since the other dishes were superb. I just think it wasn't the best choice to include on the tasting menu especially when the other dishes were spectacular. The lemon lavender dessert was also delicious, and I still regret not getting the creme carmel. Lastly, we liked the food enough to order another dish to take with us for lunch the next day. So we are clearly fans of the food and would definitely recommend it, but hope the chef will reconsider the items ordered on the tasting menu so there is...
Read moreMy experience at Chardo's on Saturday, December 16th, was nothing short of delightful. We were the first patrons to step through the doors a bit past 11 am, and right from the start, the atmosphere exuded a welcoming charm.
Seated in one of the prime spots near the window, overlooking Shefford Street in Bromont, we enjoyed a captivating view of passersby. The ambiance set the perfect tone for a memorable dining experience.
Our initial choice of red wine didn't quite hit the mark, but the attentive staff promptly replaced it with a recommendation from the owner. The second selection turned out to be a delightful surprise, showcasing the owner's expertise and commitment to ensuring a pleasurable dining experience.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show – the food. It was nothing short of excellent, with a refined touch and a diverse selection that catered perfectly to our tastes. Chardo's proved to be a haven for culinary adventurers, offering a tantalizing array of dishes that exceeded our expectations.
I wholeheartedly recommend Chardo's to anyone seeking a culinary adventure and a taste of something new. From the inviting atmosphere to the impeccable service and outstanding food, our visit was a true...
Read moreWe went to Bromont for a light lunch on a Wednesday - not a good idea🤨 Chardo was actually our only option because all the other restaurants close on Wednesday apparently. Anyway, my friend, who lives in Granby, had wanted to try Chardo as she had heard about it, so it worked out well. Our party of 6 was seated almost immediately. It has an interesting lunch menu but perhaps too interesting for us as we all ordered the fish and chips. It did take a little longer than expected for the food to arrive, considering it was only fish and chips, but it was close to closing time and we had been informed when we walked in that the kitchen was about to close. The food was worth waiting for. The fish was crispy and light and the fries were fresh, looked hand cut and were not oily. They do not serve ketchup😍 The food was served with very nice tartare sauce. Very nice ambience and service, but if I were to go back I would try the...
