This was our first time trying and we unfortunately won’t be returning. The service was incredibly friendly, fast and good, it was very cute and clean inside the pickup area, and it was busy in there, and the online reviews were glowing….all of which we thought was a good sign, but it was the quality of the food unfortunately that won’t have us returning.
I absolutely adore Greek food and have been very fortunate to have eaten a lot of exceptional Greek food…this unfortunately isn’t that. The potato’s just tasted strongly of oregano and were missing the wonderful lemon flavour Greek potato’s usually have, the rice was really overcooked and mushy and also lacked flavour. The chicken souvlaki was ok, didn’t have a ton of flavour though and it was also somewhat overcooked verging on dry. The salad seemed like a bagged salad filled with cabbage, and pieces of the core of the iceberg lettuce, and the Greek salad dressing was not like any I’ve seen before. It was creamy and had an odd flavour. Not like the more typical vinaigrette style Greek dressing with herbs. Then I had also ordered a side of the lemon sauce (which is typically put on Greek grilled meats) and what I got was some strange orange looking sauce which again is creamy and seems mayo based and tastes nothing of lemon.
My husband got the Hermes’ pizza and said it was also not good. He couldn’t even finish a 2nd slice as he said it was making him feel like he was going to throw up.
We had also ordered a piece of baklava which is so beyond stale, the texture is like cardboard.
Incredibly disappointing overall, and feels like a...
Read moreI'm sorry to say I did not share a good dining experience like most of the reviews. I am giving one star for our waitress (friendly blonde) who was very attentive.
We ordered a chicken souvlaki, gyro with Greek fries and a grilled kalamari dinner. Chicken souvlaki was tasteless. Greek fries were thick cut with a house made cayenne/paprika sauce which surprising did not have much flavour and made them soggy. One half of the Kalamari portion was burnt and the vegetables on the side were burnt. I ended up spitting a piece out into my napkin as it was overwhelming.
Upon explaining that my Kalamari plate was burnt it was taken back to the kitchen where it was poked at. It was an awkward interaction as people poked at the plate. I went up to use the restroom and the second I got out the manager stopped me in the hallway.
I thought she seemed a bit insincere but then she proceeded to explain that burning the Kalamari was how they made it. She specifically made of point of "kind of apologizing" but making sure I understood that it was my expectations that needed adjusting. Her attitude suggested that she assumed I've never eaten Greek food before. When I calmly explained that once food grills for too long it can get a charcoal burnt crust, she just pushed the conversation along to let me know it would be taken off the bill.
There is a difference between burnt and cooked. As someone who has studied cooking I believe I can tell the difference. Also judging by the cook, the grill had not been cleaned recently and has a few hot spots which led to an uneven cook of...
Read moreI just went there for my birthday dinner and everything I got was amazing! I was here with my boyfriend of a little over one year and he had been here before many times with his family. I have never been here before which I find somewhat surprising as my family is Greek haha. I adore spanakopita so I was much anticipating eating it and.. it was fantastic! it was incredibly cooked and the flavour was astounding. The tzatziki I assume is made in-house and is incredible, I could eat it by the spoonful. The pita I must say was also extremely good, the texture and flavour was on point and I had to stop myself from eating it as I still had the entrees on the way. Additionally, the rice that came with the spanakopita was magnificent, it tastes exactly like how my mom would make it sometimes and sadly I was too full to eat more of it but if I was not as stuffed as I was, I would have scarfed very quickly haha! Finally, I also will commend the pizza. The dough was absolutely perfect, the sauce, which was phenomenal, stayed on perfectly well and everything on top of the pizza stayed there too. Overall, I had excellent food and marvellous service. The woman served me and my love, her name is Michaela, was extremely nice and helpful. I absolutely will come back here and again and tell my family to come here...
