Thai Express Appleby Line — Restaurant in Burlington

i don’t like to leave bad reviews unless it was REALLY BAD because it comes across as rude, but this food deserves a bad review it was the worst food i’ve ever had in my life. i don’t even think they put seasoning, my food had 0 taste. no joke. i’m still extremely confused how you cook food with ingredients and it taste like nothing. it tasted as if i was just eating plain boiled white rice. but even that isn’t comparable because white rice has a little bit of flavour when salt is added. the basil fried rice i ordered didnt have any taste. it was so unexpected that i had to spit it out. the rice was sooooo mushy and tasteless. i tried to add some salt to the rice so that my money wasn’t fully wasted but the rice was so incredibly mushy it didn’t even require chewing. i’ve never been so disappointed in my life and i’m not a picky eater. i ended up just throwing it out and ordering from somewhere else. I wouldn’t let this review discourage you from trying their meal, but i believe that this is an experience that needs to be shared and i hope the business sees this review and uses it as an opportunity to improve, i believe in second chances but as of now i will not be eating at this restaurant again or for a...

Update to my prior review The owners were amazing when they worked here when it first opened. Food was always fresh and delicious. Unfortunately our last few times haven't been great but tonight was horrendous. My chicken is not the same and even tastes old which is concerning but couldn't even go back because they are closed and my infant was admitted to hospital this was just a special trip by my spouse to get something other than hospital food. It is also extremely spicy with chili's scattered throughout when it was supposed to be medium. My chicken doesn't look like breaded chicken and is dry with a foul taste.

This is by far the best Thai Express location we have been to! We have been to many locations, 3 of which have closed down, among a few others and this location is hands down the best. The food tasted so clean in comparison and did not give an upset stomach afterward. The family is so sweet and really care about what their customers think of the food and checked in to make sure everything was OK. It’s been a while since I’ve had Thai Express, and this was my first time visiting this location. I’ve always enjoyed the occasional meal at the St. Catharines branch, but something felt a bit off with this experience.

I ordered the chicken green curry, Thai fried rice, and chicken Pad Thai.

The flavors were still familiar—rich, well-seasoned sauces that matched the Thai Express taste I remember. The vegetables were also a highlight: large, crunchy, and a great addition to the dishes in terms of texture.

However, my biggest complaint is the chicken. I’m not sure if this is standard across all Thai Express locations, but the chicken here was shredded, with a texture similar to canned tuna rather than sliced pieces. It created an odd mouthfeel, almost like eating oatmeal or porridge, which really took away from the overall experience.

My second issue was with the rice. In both the green curry and the Thai fried rice, the rice crumbled too easily. It came across as wet and slightly mushy, giving the dishes a sloppy feel.
