I have been to this coffee shop multiple times now. I first saw it on Google maps, read the reviews and then decided to try it. Whenever I go there there are always people trying to take nice photos like they really work at it. Having been there myself I can tell that it is made to look much nicer in the photos somehow, I don’t know why the effort is. I mean it’s not a bad place but it’s not that nice either.
They don’t have good ventilation. Sometimes it smells bad (this may just be the customers but if the ventilation were good, it wouldn’t be a problem).
The washroom is mostly clean.
Staff are nice, although not super nice, at least not so much towards me.
Among all the cafes serving pour over in Burnaby/Vancouver, theirs is the smallest size.
The coffee itself is not bad, for Americano you don’t get to choose from a lot of options, but you have a larger selection of beans if you want pour over. They put the water first and then espresso on top when making Americano. I don’t like this. Even the simplest coffee poster shows this: espresso at the bottom then hot water. What they make is actually called a Long Black. For a roastery, I thought they would be more careful about this. Although I know some people don’t care about this and some people have really strong opinions about this claiming it’s controversial or that there is no definition so it doesn’t matter.
They don’t have too many bakery item options. I do not believe they serve the freshest bakery items every day. Some people uploaded avocado sandwich and bread&butter pictures on Google Maps but I didn’t see these on any menu when I was there and I didn’t see any of these being served either so maybe those are discontinued. Also it would be nice if they had some/more gluten free options.
Overall I do like the place and I will keep going. It’s much better than the other Modus branch, I think,...
Read moreFirst time visiting Coffee Roastery Modus, and I must say, the minimalistic design is absolutely stunning—it gives a clean and stylish vibe that I really appreciate. We tried a croissant, Cardi Bs, iced Americano, and a hot latte. The latte stood out with its great taste, but the other items were just average. However, the staff here are incredibly nice and meticulous—you can tell they put their heart into everything they do.
The spacious and modern environment makes it an excellent place to start your morning on a positive note. I will definitely visit again to try more...
Read moreI usually go to Modus on Broadway for coffee. Knowing they started a second branch in Burnaby and seeing their IG post, of course my husband and I must come to try it out.
Their coffee was so good that it did not disappoint us at all! We ordered their cappuccino and gibarltar. Loved both so much especially the gibarltar was very unique. I love their light roasted coffee beans. The flavour tasted so much better than the dark roasted ones.
Their orangey pound cake went very well with the coffee 🥰😋😍😇 I highly recommended others to come especially if you live in the...
