Our recent visit to White Spot was a delightful culinary adventure, indulging in the scrumptious Nat's Hearty Breakfast and the mouthwatering Prawn & Avocado Bowl. Here's a detailed breakdown of our wonderful experience:
Nat's Hearty Breakfast: This classic breakfast spread had everything we needed to satisfy our morning cravings. I opted for over easy eggs, along with a tempting serving of bacon. The fluffy and delightful buttermilk pancakes were a perfect complement to the meal. While the eggs were slightly overcooked, the real star was the smashbrown potatoes. They were crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and simply divine. To top it off, the potatoes were served endlessly, but as much as we enjoyed them, it became a bit overwhelming. A generous portion would have been sufficient.
Prawn & Avocado Bowl: The Prawn & Avocado Bowl was indeed a masterpiece of flavours and textures. The Louisiana spiced prawns were expertly seasoned, bringing a delightful zesty kick to the dish. The combination of cherry tomatoes, avocado, and bacon created a perfect balance of sweet and savoury notes. The two poached eggs with their luscious yolks and the drizzle of hollandaise sauce elevated the entire dish to a whole new level of indulgence.
Kids' Meals: The kids' meals offered a great selection, ensuring each of our children found something they truly desired. The endless sides for them, just like the adults' dishes, were a fantastic addition, and the scoop of ice cream as a sweet treat was a delightful surprise for them.
Overall, our experience at White Spot was truly a treat for our taste buds. The real star of the show was undoubtedly the smashbrown potatoes, which deserve full marks for their exceptional taste and innovative preparation.
The warm and inviting ambiance of White Spot, coupled with the friendly service, made our dining experience even more enjoyable. I must admit, I was hesitant about returning due to a negative experience many years ago, but I am so glad we gave it another chance. The restaurant has clearly stepped up its game, and we left with satisfied palates and smiles on our faces. We will certainly be coming back for more delectable delights...

As a longtime patron of White Spot, I was deeply disappointed by a recent in-person visit with the youth I mentor. She has always enjoyed ordering from the kids’ menu, especially the fun Pirate Pak, but at 12, she was denied this option. The server insisted the kids’ menu is restricted to children 10 and under, which felt unnecessary and frustrating for many reasons I will outline below.
The adult meals lack the thoughtful touches of the Pirate Pak—the ship, chocolate coin, and ice cream scoop—features she had come to expect and enjoy over the years. Furthermore, many parents and caregivers encourage kids to order from the children’s menu to: Avoid oversized adult meals that exceed a healthy caloric intake for children. Reduce food waste by providing appropriately portioned meals for smaller appetites. Offer a fun experience for kids.
This rigid policy felt unnecessarily ageist, particularly since she is legally still a child. What if she were 10? How would that make her feel? Is this the impression you want to leave on children—the future generation of your customers?
Additionally, she has mild sensory sensitivities and can become anxious when there are abrupt changes to routine or expectations. While she adjusted to the situation with assurance, enforcing an arbitrary age limit on meal options was both dismissive of individual circumstances and entirely avoidable.
I strongly encourage White Spot to reconsider this policy and adopt a more flexible, inclusive approach. Children should be allowed to enjoy the kids’ menu if they wish, especially when the meal is clearly intended for them. Accommodating such requests would not only make the dining experience more positive but also show that White Spot values its customers’ unique needs.
It’s unfortunate that a restaurant with such a legacy of family dining would put policies above creating lasting, positive memories for its guests. I've told her moving forward if she wants the kids meal, we'll have to order it to-go to avoid your arbitrary in-person "Pirate Profiling" system that doesn't apply to...
Read moreManager named Den is rude . I recently visited this restaurant with my family, hoping for a pleasant dining experience. However, what we encountered was absolutely appalling. The manager of the restaurant approached us shortly after we were seated and informed us that our child might "bore" other customers and that we should leave. I was shocked and deeply offended by this behavior.
As a parent, I understand that dining with children can sometimes be challenging, but that does not excuse such blatant discrimination. We were treated as if our presence was unwelcome simply because we had a child with us. It's disheartening to think that in this day and age, a restaurant would openly discriminate against families. Probably because we are a latin family, and the manager was very agressive toward us.
The manager's attitude was rude and unprofessional. Instead of addressing the issue tactfully or offering solutions, they chose to embarrass us and make us feel like second-class customers. We were left humiliated and frustrated.
I would strongly advise anyone considering dining at this establishment to think twice. No one should have to endure the humiliation and mistreatment that my family and I experienced. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area that value and appreciate the diversity of their customers. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for a dining experience that actually values...
