La Forêt Jubilee 6848 Jubilee Ave, Burnaby, BC V5J 4B3
Located just off Kingsway in Burnaby, La Forêt Jubilee is a bright and modern café that combines industrial design with natural elements to create a relaxing atmosphere. Known for its creative pastries, specialty drinks, and Korean-inspired fusion menu, this spot offers both aesthetic charm and culinary comfort. Here’s a breakdown of the items sampled during my visit:
Pineapple Smoothie A simple yet satisfying blend of pineapple, ice, and syrup. This smoothie was light, refreshing, and perfectly chilled — ideal for a sunny afternoon. The natural tartness of the pineapple was balanced well with just the right amount of sweetness. Rating: 8/10
Mocha Rich, smooth, and well-balanced. The mocha delivered a harmonious blend of espresso and chocolate without being overly sweet. A comforting and well-crafted cup, perfect for pairing with their pastries. Rating: 8/10
Black Orange Cream Cruffin This squid ink–infused croissant-muffin hybrid was visually striking and delightfully unique. The contrast between the rich, slightly savory layers of the cruffin and the bright, citrusy orange cream filling worked beautifully. A must-try for anyone seeking something out of the ordinary. Rating: 8/10
Croissant Sandwich with Salad A flaky, buttery croissant filled with bacon, egg, and fresh lettuce. The ingredients were simple but high quality, and the textures came together nicely. The side salad was fresh, lightly dressed, and complemented the sandwich well. A great choice for a light brunch. Rating: 8/10
Spicy Bulgogi Sandwich with Salad Served on a house-made squid ink bun, this sandwich was a standout. The bulgogi was flavorful, tender, and juicy, with a subtle heat that lingered pleasantly. The squid ink bun added a visual twist and a slight depth of flavor that worked harmoniously with the meat. This is a creative fusion done right. Rating: 9/10
Ambiance The interior is clean, spacious, and thoughtfully designed. Abundant greenery softens the industrial-style space, creating a cozy and inviting environment. High ceilings and natural light make it an ideal spot for a relaxed meal or coffee break. Rating: 9/10
Service Service was prompt and courteous. Staff were friendly, efficient, and kept the flow of the café moving smoothly despite a steady stream of customers. Rating: 8/10
Price Considering the quality of the ingredients and the overall experience, the pricing is fair and reasonable. Portion sizes are generous, and the offerings feel thoughtfully crafted.
Final Verdict La Forêt Jubilee is more than just a coffee shop — it’s a stylish, laid-back café offering a creative menu with Korean and European influences. From the squid ink cruffins to the bulgogi sandwich, the food is both playful and satisfying. Coupled with a tranquil ambiance and friendly service, this spot is well worth a visit. I’ll definitely be returning to explore more of their...
Read moreI tried to go to La Forêt in March, but back that day, they were closed to filming staff. I did see any information on the website (later, I saw it on IG) and was so disappointed, but I am glad to be back because they met my expectations. The place is a really good option for brunch, lunch and dinner. They are open later at night. Also, it is beautiful, and for me, the best part is the light and décor. You feel that you are in the middle of the garden Parisienne.
Food&Drink: All look delicious, especially the desserts. When you arrive, you have to order first, and while you are in the line can see different flavours of croissants (almond, cheese which is black, butter) and muffins. I ordered Grill cheese panini, served with salad and mocha, with dark chocolate. My friend ordered a Breakfast Sandwich (croissant with egg, bacon and cheese). Also, it is served with salad. To drink, she ordered a cappuccino. Both orders were perfect and savoury! I really recommend them.
Price: It´s fine and expected. My only observation is the croissants ´price; it could be slightly lower. I spent $26 (without tips).
Customer Service: The line is always big, and I felt the staff was a little stressed. They didn´t tell us how their system works, and we had to figure it out. So, there it is: first, you must take a line and order your food. They’ll give you a sort of “pager system”. It will lighting when your drink is ready. But when you take it, you have to check the number on your receipt and see if it matches the drink´s number. 2nd step: you have to wait for the tables available. The waiters will inform you. Here I have a suggestion; maybe they should have a wait list because there is no line, and you must have to trust that the waiters remember who comes first. 3rd, after you sit, the waiters will bring your food. So, this recap could explain why we felt the waiters were stressed. The line is always there, and they need to find tables for customers, bring the food and smile. Tip: To save your and their time, check all options before you order because if you want to order something after you sit, you have to take a new line to buy new stuff. The limit time to stay at the table is 2h.
Space: It has no question; the ambiance is modern, cozy and welcome. The architecture and décor are unique and match each other. The circuit of the food display is suitable. They used all space and make it functional and organic. For me, the best place is in the center of the café, where is greenery and you can sit around. And I think they have a patio when the weather is nice. The exit door is diferent the entrance.
Cleaning: It was okay, as it should be.
Location: It´s close to Royal Oak Station, in Burnaby, 10 min walk. If you go by car, they have parking (it´s not big), but you can park on the street.
Thank you for reading it, and I hope it is helpful! Enjoy what...
Read moreLa Forêt doubles as a bakery and restaurant, allowing customers to choose their desired baked goods to bring home, or order and enjoy a meal in the bustling seating area. While waiting in line to order and pay, tons of cakes, cookies, croissants, and even ice cream tins are displayed, enticing customers to pick up something else to have with their food. Additionally, physical copies of their menu are available at the end of the counter closest to the door, which I find quite handy.
Importantly, La Forêt does have an app and a rewards program, so I’d recommend for returning customers to download and sign up! By signing up and providing your birthday, you’ll get a free drink of your choice on your birthday and up to 3 days following it :)
Usually, La Forêt is incredibly busy- chances are, more than half of the seats will be occupied, which is saying a lot as the interior is huge! If you want a more intimate, quiet spot, this probably isn’t the place to go to, as noise levels can be high sometimes. Additionally, I prefer sitting towards the back, away from the doors. The large table closest to the doors, while usually open, gives off a metallic, iron smell, which may affect your dining experience if you sit there.
Ordering at the counter and having your food delivered is usually the most interaction you’ll have with the employees, so that’s great if you’re introverted! Napkins and water are provided for customers to grab as they please, located at a station closer to the back, not too far away from the counter.
My go-to is the Bulgogi Platter, which comes with a helping of Bulgogi, two pieces of toast, one piece of squid ink bread, strawberry jam, eggs (I go with scrambled), and potatoes (I love their deep-fried, roasted ones)! The strong savoury bulgogi works amazingly with the sweet jam, fluffy eggs, seasoned potatoes and crisp bread. My favourite drink so far is the Iced Salted Nutella Latté, which is very tasty! I’ve also tried their Strawberry Waffle, which is generous in its portion size and makes for a great dessert.
Things are pricier here, but I find that overall, the food is quite good, so I don’t mind spending a little more once in a while. Whether you’re with friends or dining solo, La Forêt is...
