Ok food at what feels like mom and pop shop.
Came here after seeing the reviews so this might have set my expectations too high.
Ordered the sweet and sour pork chop based on sugar and brown vinegar as well as mu shu pork (what my sister called it according to Chinese name, I didn't read the menu).
The mu shu pork came first and I was surprised how much higher egg to veg ratio of this dish compared to other places.
The sweet and sour pork chop was pretty good. Reminds me of Korean-Chinese tangsuyook. Thin sliced tender pork and crispy batter. The brown vinegar and sugar sauce was ok, not that vinegary but sour enough.
Just the one older lady working the front of house and phones so service is what it was but what I would deduct for is that she's not that thoughtful. She didn't bring serving utensils or ask if we needed rice.
The room was very basic. Pretty cold on a sunny 5 degree Celsius day in this room so it seems they don't heat the room for their customers. I wonder if this place is hot in summer or not. Tables are all arranged to try to maximize seating but in very strange layout, mostly pushed against the wall lengthwise. Not comfortable seating here.
Free street parking around the building. I saw small lots nearby, but not sure if you can park trip go to this restaurant.
We didn't feel we got our money's worth here so although ok food, we...
Read moreI had a terrible experience at this restaurant last Sunday. When I came on a weekday morning, a female staff member was very kind and provided excellent service, but compared to that, my visit at around 7:30 AM last Sunday was extremely disappointing.
First, while two staff members gave glass bowls and regular tableware to other Chinese customers, they gave us disposable utensils and plates for no reason.
Second, we ordered two bowls of rice, but unlike last time, they served them in tiny bowls, which didn’t seem worth the money at all. The Mapo tofu was the same. It was either that the restaurant had already lost its original spirit in such a short time or that the staff, who looked new, made a mistake.
Third, unlike other tables who received water in glass cups that were refilled whenever empty, we were only given paper cups and no one checked on us throughout the meal.
I was truly disappointed. The food itself was excellent — the Guobaorou (sweet and sour pork) we tried for the first time was also delicious — but the service was messy, and it felt like we were treated differently from Chinese customers.

Read moreI was looking for authentic Northeastern Chinese cuisine and found this restaurant highly rated on Google. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t live up to the reviews.
First, I agree with another reviewer who mentioned that the table layout is poor. The space is clearly overcrowded in an effort to maximize seating, making it feel cramped and uncomfortable. The restaurant is run by a husband and wife team—the husband handles the cooking in the back, while the wife manages service out front.
As for the food, I was very disappointed. The so-called “signature dishes” were the worst of the bunch—neither authentic nor flavorful. Many items seemed to have been prepared in advance and reheated, which would explain why most of them arrived lukewarm. Only the eggplant dish was served hot, likely because it had just been deep-fried.
Beyond the food, the service was inattentive and impersonal, and the ambiance was lacking. There was no warmth or character to the space, and the uncomfortable seating made the experience even less enjoyable.
The only positive thing I can say is that the prices are reasonable. Unfortunately, that’s not enough to bring me back. Overall, a very...
