Michael J Fox Theatre — Attraction in Burnaby

Unfortunately, I'm having to leave this review. We successfully had an event in September of 2023 and, as a result, quickly booked for the next year. Booking for the same time in 2024 was made. Unfortunately, as we begin to prepare for the upcoming booking with their booking and administrative teams in the summertime they replied only to inform us by way of email that our booking had been canceled due to "Renovations" that were being done. We have not been notified nor offered any alternative. They claimed they had sent an email informing us of the decision for renovations, but when we asked them to produce the email, they were unable to do so. They also did not offer to rebook us or consider shifting renovations dates to a different time during the week (as opposed to being on the weekend when our booking had been.

What is most concerning is the unprofessional behavior during these communications. Despite the obvious detriment that their cancelation would have on our event, there was no remorse, no attempts to rectify the situation, or facilitate an alternative arrangement.

In fact, they stopped communicating with us all together. If you value your next special events, concert, production, I would recommend you consider an alternative venue as it doesn't seem that Michael J fox reliably execute professionalism nor basic decency with respect to their...

Audience were allowed to sit in the stairway to take photos and videos without interference. My friend was performing in the final act, and I had promised to record a video for her. When I went to the same stairway area to film, I was suddenly told to leave by a staff member who even blocked my camera and forced me to stop recording.

I understand the need for safety, but such rules should be applied consistently!!! Why were others allowed to film earlier performances while I was singled out and prevented from doing so?

Also, being asked to return to my seat during the act caused more disruption to the audience and performers than quietly filming...

it's a really nice Theater, for the 2 events I have been here they seem to be somewhat organized, but are usually understaffed and run out of things like event guides. The parking lot is a little bit of a mess, there is limited parking and there are some parking spots that are reserved, so you have to arrive early to make sure you get a spot. But there is a lot of parking around the neighborhood so if you don't mind the walk its not...
