A friendly, inviting neighbourhood viet & thai restaurant that strikes the perfect balance on food, ambiance and price. This is actually the second time my wife and I visited - the first time being for pho (which we thought was delicious; like some other reviewers noted, it was on the cleaner side of the taste spectrum, but the portions were generous, ingredients fresh and at a very fair price).
This time we tried their Thai Lover's set menu. Once again, the ingredients were fresh and colourful, nicely arranged on their dishes (good presentation!). We were a little surprised with the mango salad being on the spicy side - it was spicier than the red curry! It was nice to have the otherwise refreshing salad. The red curry had plenty of flavour and was my favourite entree. Pad Thai again had fresh ingredients and was good overall - the ketchup was evident š¬ The deep fried banana honestly was probably the best I've had in a long time.... Crispy batter, drizzled with honey and topped with sesame and vanilla ice cream.... Awesome!
We were very impressed with H&P - good quality food, a clean and modern interior, clean washrooms...and yes, for a very fair price that I would have no problem eating out regularly here! We will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI donāt even know where to start except that they pay for their reviews unfortunately. Thereās a sign in the restaurant that youāll get a free drink if you write a google review, I can only imagine this is how they have so many 5-star reviews? It was weirdly empty for a Saturday at 6 at a highly rated place, and not very clean. The food was mid, at best⦠the service was terrible. The table next to us was getting frustrated as well because the waitresses basically just ignored us the entire time. And as if all that wasnāt enough, our friend found a hair in her food about halfway through her plate. 𤢠(for what itās worth they did comp her food and gave us a 15% voucher that expires at the end of month and we had to use our next visit, needles to say we wonāt be returningā¦) You would think after all that the service wouldāve gotten better but it didnāt. They didnāt even clear our friendās plate and she was sooo grossed out. After waiting a while we were finally able to flag someone down to pay and leave. Hopefully you read through the reviews (I didnāt and regret it), but there are many more saying the same thing about the reviews not matching the place. Iāll take bad service for good food but this place...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame in for dinner with the family and just felt disappointed it was not as nice as we would hoped.
Service was slow. And it was barely any greeting or thank you at the end.
Was not busy. It was maybe about 4-7 tables seated while we were there.
Their Large pho has very small portion of noodles. My kids finished it in less than 5 min. And we asked for an extra order of noodle (plain noodle) and that took about 15 min.
There was no refill of water until we were all down our dinner (which was about 45min later).
The menu was big and maybe itās too big that the servers cannot handle.
I had a Thai green curry and the ingredients seemed different. No bamboo shoots or onions or peppers. And the eggplants were fried too dried. However, the sauce was good.
They have 3 sizes of Pho , small, regular and large. We got a large one but feels very small (noodle portion) was just about a small bowl.
Serving dishes are nice.
Salad roll has a ānon traditionalā peanut sauce which was not my favourite. More on the sour side.
Overall I would give them another chance but they may need to find a way to make the servers want to be there. They seemed stressed...
