Had high expectations after seeing the review but sadly I can only rate this place 2/5. This restaurant is more towards a casual cafe, nothing fancy. Menu has wayyy too many items although some are fair priced. Food: ⭐️⭐️ 🍝Shrimp Carbonara with Homemade Fettuccine ⭐️⭐️ Tastes like something I can cook at home. They kinda overheated the Carbonara sauce, making it clumpy and scrambled, which made the pasta very dry. For it to be $22 (shrimp+fettuccine was additional 💰) was disappointing. 🍝Chicken Alfredo with Homemade Fettuccine ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Definitely tasted better than the carbonara, everything was good. Although I can certainly make the same taste at home. 🍕Margherita Pizza ⭐️⭐️ It was a bit different from we imagined, the crust tastes like those frozen ones, but the topping was good. The tomatoes were fresh and delicious, there was decent amount of cheese. $11 was fair, you get what you pay 🌯Tuscan Chicken Panini ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Honestly the best looking dish out of everything we ordered. It had lots of cheese and meat, $16 was fair ☕️Drinks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Drinks were surprisingly good! We have ice-frapp and italian soda, both tasted really good, although a small frapp is $6 lol 🍽️Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The service was amazing, staff were very kind and attentive. Willing to make fresh fettuccine when they ran out 🙏🏻 I appreciate that! Overall: 2/5 A bit pricey for what they served, maybe order their drinks and breakfast. Pasta was disappointing for the price we paid, we might stick to paninis only.

I can’t say enough about this community GEM! I have looked up at this cafe for years as I drive east on Hastings. Last Sunday I decided to look it up on Google reviews as I was heading to the Heights area for the afternoon! Boy was I ever pleased to read such great reviews...I had no idea! You can imagine how much more pleased I was to have my experience hours later when I arrived at La Fontana Caffe with my family for lunch! The space itself is low key and cozy! It has some chairs and tables outside in a courtyard. What makes it so special is the unbelievable food and the joyous owner Gian who prepares it! Italian home cooking at its finest! I was blown away with the flavours! My girls declared it there new Favourite restaurant and basically demanded that we go back again this evening! Which is now twice in less than a week. John makes his own Gnocchi...if you are lucky enough to show up on a day that he has it...do yourself a favour and order it! The only way to explain it is heavenly pillows of pasta! My husband literally grunted as he was eating it. Twelve years of marriage...hundreds of restaurants in numerous countries and cities and I have never heard him do that while eating! It was just that good! Gian also make his own gelato and homemade waffle cones to order! WTH! It is mind blowing! The flavours! So Run here! Fill your belly with pasta, pizza, gelato....and then dream about what you are going to have the next time you come! That’s what I did!!

La Fontana Café is a small, family-owned restaurant in the heart of downtown. The owner makes all of the pizzas himself. The pizzas are thin-crust and cooked in a wood-fired oven. I ordered the Margherita pizza, which was simple but delicious. The crust was crispy and the sauce was flavorful. The cheese was melted perfectly and there was a generous amount of fresh basil. The service was excellent. The owner came to greet us and ask us how our meal was. He was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is perfect for a warm summer day. Overall, I had a great experience at La Fontana Café. The pizza was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was inviting. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious pizza in a casual setting. **Pros:** * Delicious pizza * Friendly service * Casual atmosphere * Indoor and outdoor seating **Cons:** * Can be a bit noisy during peak times * Prices are a bit higher than some other restaurants in the area **Overall:** La Fontana Café is a great option for anyone looking for a delicious pizza in a casual setting. The pizza is made with fresh ingredients and cooked in a wood-fired oven. The service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is inviting. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great pizza.

This place is such a hidden gem! My friend and I wandered in here one night because it is close to her house and I saw on Yelp that they have board games.

We came on a Friday night and it was bustling but not too crowded and we easily found a table. The walls are plastered in posters from all genres of geekdom, with the exception of the wall that holds all the games. The washroom door is painted like the TARDIS which I was so excited about! Most of the people there seemed like regulars and greeted each other and the staff by name, but it didn't feel exclusive or snobbish in any way. We felt very welcomed there the whole time.

The menu was small and not anything special, as menus in Vancouver go, and you order up front, but the prices are cheap and the portions are generous. We were surprised and delighted to find that our meals came with a half a baked apple with a crumble topping. I don't know if they do that all the time, but it was delicious. I had the soft taco (special of the day) and my friend had the chicken parmesan panini. Both were very good.

Another surprise was that we found out they show movies there on Friday nights. It was a hilariously cheesy 80's sci fi movie and we enjoyed it immensely.

If you are tired of the pretentiousness of other Vancouver restaurants and want a chill place to enjoy some good food and fun games around some friendly people, this is the place to be. I will...
