Star House Restaurant — Restaurant in Cache Creek

Terrible service, and attitude, and pricing. Usually I don't care enough enough leave a bad review but this place was awful. Driving through and there isn't much to choose from in Cache Creek, everything else was closed. They were open until 8:30, I started calling at 8pm to place an order so we could pick up quickly and easily. I called 5 times betweeb 8pm and 8:10. and I kept getting sent to voice-mail. It wouldn't let me place an online order for pick up. So we decided to just go there to place an order and just wait, thinking maybe they just couldn't grab the phone. We get there and there is one customer sitting and eating. I asked why they didn't answer the phone, she said sorry, we were so busy. I said I called 5 times within the last 15 minutes. She said sorry we were busy. She was literally just standing there. Very rude. And then placing our order.... you have to pay $2 just to switch from chow main to fried rice in a combo meal?? So dumb. Absolutely outrageous. We were hungry and didn't want to go anywhere else and in a time crunch, but will not be back again, and just can't believe the service now a days with some places. And also, didn't give us Cutlery or napkins...

Food is decent, but the casher working to closing on weekends has some issues to sort out I think.

I ordered two items on website, and was charged 36 bucks on the receipt, went there to get the food and pay for it and she charged me 56. I told her that she typed the wrong amount and she gave an excuse that it's because of tax, of course I would like to think she made a mistake and never realised it, but after I asked that she check the price one more time she showed me the bill which had 36 bucks written on it, and I told her that the debit machine she consciously typed in had 56 bucks on it and then she just walked away all frowning, into the kitchen and told the owner to deal with me.

Look, I am not asking that anyone to be all cuddly and nice when you have to work on the weekends, but when someone is telling you that there is a mistake, maybe check once before you act on your over-inflated ego. It's not too late to be all self-righteous after you checked.

Edit : I increased the rating to 4 star because I've heard that server was let go for whatever reason. However mental the server was, credit should go where credits go, food is still...

RUDE SERVICE, One star is the highest i can think of for this restaurant. I have a lot if respect for small business owner, but this location is not one of them. The place smells like urine. The food is terrible, no Chinese food taste and not presented well. I stayed in town for one nigt with my wife, she felt like throwing up since after eating there. We left without finish our meal. BAD TASTE If you are hungry I suggest to go to a fast food, buy something else. Don't waste your money there. The food had no taste, and my rice wasn't cooked. I was generous enough to give a tape. To my surprise the cashier who may have been the owner didn't give the proper receipt showing what I ordered. WASTED. I could hear other customers complaining about the smell of the place to him, his answer was he may have been in for too long he can't smell it. DIRTY.
