I'm sorry I grew up in the Era when Husky house was a whole brand and not just an afterthought or a place trying to hold onto some long gone version of the past.
I remember when these restaurants used to BE thier own destination on long road trips and my nostalgia won't let me accept what this is as Husky house.
The food is... bland, everything is from a package, bag or bucket with no finesse from the cooks at all. The poutine my wife had was more brown sauce soup than actual poutine. I ordered a burger it was slightly better in quality except they cooked the wrong burger. I decided to just take the wrong burger so my family didn't have to wait for them to correct the order. The waitress then shows up when I'm almost done my burger with the toppings from what I originally ordered on a plate. When it came time to pay they tried to charge me for the more expensive burger.
Please understand this isn't about the wrong order, shit happens, and I wasn't expecting a free meal for a minor inconvenience. What I wanted was someone to take responsibility and just show a modicum of customer service, responsibility and leadership. Either fix the burger and apologize for the delay, or offer the wrong burger and just make sure the bill is correct. Either way don't run around trying to "make things right" because the whole experience was just awkward.
The waitress seemed hurried and distracted despite there only being 3 tables seated. She didn't refill drinks, she didn't stop to ask us how the food was, she wasn't even around for most of our meal.
Atmosphere. Like I get this is cache creek and is definitely a former stop on a formerly busy highway but the place felt dirty. The ancient cola machine in the back corner has some kind of corrosion or film on the outside and it's parked right in the main dining area. It would take very little effort and slightly more LEADERSHIP to clean it up or figure out a way to cover it until it can be replaced. Other than that it just felt like it wasn't cared for I can't describe any particular thing that caught my eye but it just felt like it was a hairs bredth from being abandoned.
All of which would have been fine at half the price but dinner for myself, my kid and my wife topped $70 which is bloody ridiculous for the quality...
Read moreDuring a recent visit, I encountered a series of culinary missteps that left much to be desired. The crinkle-cut French fries, a timeless favorite, were a letdown, emerging from a bag rather than fresh, lacking any redeeming crispness or flavor. The hot turkey sandwich fell short of comfort food expectations, with a solitary slice of bread struggling under the weight of scant gravy, leaving me questioning the authenticity of the turkey itself. Lastly, the soup—while generous with vegetables—was disappointingly scant on broth, failing to provide that hearty embrace one seeks from a bowl of warmth.
In summary, the meal was a collection of missed opportunities to delight in the simple pleasures of well-executed...
