Banh Mi Nhu Y — Restaurant in Calgary

I used to frequent this establishment when the original owner was still involved, and it was my go-to spot for banh mi in the city, easily deserving a five-star rating. However, I’ve noticed a significant decline in quality since then, which has made my visits less frequent. Specifically, when requesting extra mayonnaise, I consistently receive less than expected. More concerning, during my most recent visit in December, I had to discard two banh mi sandwiches due to an unpleasant aftertaste that resembled cleaning detergent or soap. The flavor was so off-putting that it made the sandwiches inedible. Upon further reflection, I confirmed the taste was reminiscent of soap after comparing it to the scent of hand soap the following day.

This suggests a potential issue with contamination, possibly in the preparation of the mayonnaise or pickled carrots, as both sandwiches were affected. I hope this feedback encourages improved quality control, as I would like to return and enjoy the banh mi...

Got 2 "beef stews" that apparently have 1/2pound of beef each. Choice of bread or vermicelli. Small portion to start with, like 1/3 of a large pho anywhere else. Barley any beef and really small portion. And it wasn't stew, it was soup! Even though the picture she showed us was a huge portion of actual stew. No wonder she would not show me the actual food when I asked.

Also no water and no tea like every other vietnamese restaurants ive ever been to. Plastic to-go bowl but we stayed in. Both still hungry. Regular place nearby for an extra dollar, I come out crawling I'm so full. I could eat 2 here and be ok but not as full. $16 per portion. 2 star cuz it tasted good but will not come back. The Best Vietnamese Sub we had after a very long time. The Place is located at a very convenient location and super clean and well lit. Very positive vibe and very welcoming by the staff/ the owner. Quite a very large variety to select from. 1st we ordered a Mango Bubble tea n we were given the option on black pearls or Coconut jelly and thatsthe best choice. Especially after a delicious Chicken Satey Vietnamese Sub with a pinch of spiciness. The Sub is so crispy and oven fresh. The combination veggies to the meat in the sub was so delicious and mouth watering. Potion size was so good and appealing. The food presentation, potion size, taste and especially the aroma was so fulfilling. Over all experience was so out standing. Definitely we want to try the other items in the menu and will recommend to our friends. Thank you for the great experience....
