There are so many things that disappointed me with the restaurant.
First, the dishes aren't that special and can simply be made at home with probably lesser money to spend. The foods there are just too overpriced. My family ordered chapsoy for $15.99 but all we got were mostly unprofessionaly cut celery, carrots, including the part where the stems were cut, two peices of broccoli, and two peices of liver. If Gordan Ramsey was to see that dish we recieved, all he would do is to compare it to a leftover diner for someone's pet dog. The fried rice we ordered was too salty and greasy. The halo-halo was something I was really looking forward to but when I ordered one, it didn't really taste like the halo-halo from the Philippines. In fact, it tasted exactly like milk, jelly, and corn that went bad.The price of the dessert is $10. I remembered buying halo-halo back in the Philippines for 10 pesos (I don't know if the prices raised). Over all, we spent a heck ton of money for only three dishes which didn't even satisfy us. I think we spent over $60.
Second, the service was just bad. The girl who led us to our seats was rushing and ignored our thank you's. Throughout our time there, neither one of the workers came to our table (not including the time they served our food) just to make sure we were doing fine. They didn't even serve us the right amount of drinks we ordered. We had to go to the counter ourselves if we wanted to order something. Additionally, they calculated and added their tips to our bill. We had to pay them extra $6 for the tips. If I get to choose how much tip I would give them, I would give them 1 peso or nothing at all since that's what they deserved.
In Google, it says that the restaurant is good for kids but apparently, toddlers or babies don't count. The chairs for toddlers or babies weren't safe at all. All the seatbelts were broken and were poorly sanitized. We didn't get a proper meal since my baby sibling couldn't even sit anywhere comfortably. The high-rised thing near the photo gallery is definitely not safe for children or anyone else. What's the purpose of it anyways? There are no cautions stating that it can be dangerous. Someone could literally trip and fall onto the hard chairs and tables at any time.
If you are planning on going to Pacific Hut, you have to keep in mind that the menu is overpriced, the service is bad, it's not child friendly, and pretty much a scam. The food there is not worth your money. If you really want to have Filipino food, make them yourselves since I bet that would cost less. Don't go there specially when you have kids who like to run around because that place is not children friendly. Just because Filipinos are very good at any jobs doesn't mean people working there are the same. If you have to ask if I had a wonderful time there, I didn't. If only I'm allowed to rate this...
Read moreAs a family from Banff, we are always longing for some Filipino restaurants in the city and Pacific Hut is one of our go to for more than a decade already. Sadly, our experiences from as of late is trending on the negative side and yesterday, we had our worst one.
Negative about food: I ordered Arroz Caldo and it was really bland. My wife ordered Pancit Palabok. The noodles were over cooked and soggy and it was like heated from a microwave. We ordered 4 pieces lumpiang shanghai for my 4 year old son. I've decided to grab a piece after my son finished his first one. To my surprise, after my first bite of the lumpia, I tasted something sour and asked my wife to try just to confirm that it tasted like it was old. My wife told me that it tasted nasty already. We called the attention of the server right away, where she took the 2 remaining pieces and she said don't finish it for your safety. I was kind of upset but didn't really confronted the server as it was not her fault anyway. We've ordered 2 Halo-halo and it tasted like plain iced milk with the toppings. Bland. I've ordered a box of Kutchinta, same story - bland as well like there was a shortage of sugar from this store.
Negative from the service: No one apologizes from that Shanghai incident and they just carry-on like nothing happened. The Shanghai was even on our bill when I was about to pay but I didn't really call her attention as I didn't want to look like I was after the discount. We've even tipped her despite the bad experiences. The cook from the kitchen constantly shouts to the dining room when she was calling the attention of the servers.
I was really disappointed by the experience. I really like the restaurant for so many years visiting here but I think they are getting complacent the past 3 years. I hope they will bring the old energy and great food they used...
Read moreOur server was not accommodating and did not offer options for us. There were times he ignored us when we tried getting his attention. He said they did not have pinakurat but one item in their menu had Pacific Hut pinakurat. The crispy pata and lechon kawali were not good and not crispy at all. It was very fatty and tasted weird.. not the filipino taste. It seemed that they bought the crispy pata & lechon kawali at T&T or some chinese resto cos it did not have the filipino taste we get from Barrio Fiesta/Chopstix or any other Filipino resto in the Philippines. Their sabaw sa halaan also tasted weird, sort of sweet which is way different from what you can order from other Filipino restaurants. Their pancit canton was very saucy which is gross and did not have the typical filipino taste. Their inihaw na pusit were very tiny, dry, overcooked, unseasoned and it just tasted burnt. Their garlic rice has their signature weird taste which in not the Filipino taste and it did not look appetizing. If you want authentic Filipino food, DO NOT EAT AT PACIFIC HUT. We were just forced to eat here because Barrio Fiest was closed for a private function and we were very hungry. Go to Chopstix instead. This place did not capture the authentic filipino taste, even though their cooks are filipino. DON'T GET DISAPPOINTED, DON'T EAT HERE. Just buy their ensaymada which was the only thing that was good. Their spicy adobo nuts did not have spice at all, not even a little bit of spice. Our server only got friendly at the time my uncle paid, the server did not deserve the tip my uncle gave. My uncle is a...
