we went there on Sat, Jan.26th 2025 and, well it was quite an experience🫤 We arrived at 12:45 but there were only 3 other tables so it wasn't busy at all. There were 6 adults in our party and went to celebrate my moms 71st birthday. I'm extremely heartbroken to say that I can't believe how disappointing our visit was. We ordered 3 waters, 1 beer and a Coke w/ no ice and a Diet Coke with ice. The waitress brings us the beer & water but then for the pops brings us the exact opposite of what we asked for, a Diet Coke w/ no ice and a Coke with ice. No big deal, we proceeded to explain very politely that she mixed it up and asked very kindly that we needed it switched except the expression on her face was like we were explaining the theoretical process of cold fusion so finally my mother just said not to worry about her Coke, she'd keep it with the ice and she just needed a Diet Coke WITH ice. Well it took our waitress about 10 minutes for her to come back with a new drink except it wasn't actually new, it was literally the same glass of Diet Coke, that was now practically flat at this point and instead of putting ice in a new glass of Diet Coke, she brought a smaller cup filled with a bunch of ice and the spoon. She then tried to explain to us that it's too difficult for her to pour out the Coke and get a new one with ice because there's no where for her to add that on the order screen and that she has to do it all herself and figured we can just add ice to the extremely full cup of flat Diet Coke. we actually all laughed about it and just accepted what she gave us. After this we went ahead and ordered an appetizer & our individual meals, with the full size nachos being our appetizer we had asked her to please bring out the nachos first but then to bring out the rest of our food when we were about halfway done. She agreed and we felt like she fully understood what we were asking except our meals arrived first with no nachos in sight. I spoke up and just reminded her that we had wanted our nachos first but she then proceeded to explain to us that the kitchen needed extra time with the nachos. It was all so perplexing, something so common was all of a sudden this monumental task but none of it made any sense and the waitress had this continuous bewildering look and never seemed to know what to do. None of us wanted to return the food we had just got so we just said whatever and kept our meals and started eating when the nachos showed up about 10 minutes later, the nachos looked like every other restaurant nachos and she asked how everything was and if we needed anything so we said we would likely need some side plates for everyone to put nachos on and again the confusion on her face was astonishingly funny. The food overall was a 6 out of 10 at best. The fish & chips were pretty bland and needed more flavor in the batter, my son enjoyed his beef dip, the mushroom Swiss burger was good but was sure the burger itself had been a pre frozen Patty. My husband hadn't had haggis before so he tried the Scott poutine and enjoyed the fries, but it was the gravy that was a big miss, nothing note worthy as you could tell it just came from a package. The tartar sauce which had a Dijon mustard flavour everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Back to our waitress, she took way too long to bring the requested ketchup & tobacco sauce to our table. She rarely checked in on us even though both my husband & dad wanted another beverage with their meals. Finally I was able to flag her down and asked for another Guinness plus a refill on my father's Diet Coke WITH ice but they didn't arrive until we were close to finishing our meals, she brought my dad his refill except she brought his drink in a much smaller glass than the original one and this drink was about 90% ice and like three sips of coke. I truly do not understand why our server was so incompetent. The bill came, she did take off one of the pops. I doubt very much that we would ever return to Bobby's Place and honestly it's a shame that this was our experience for my mother's...
Read moreYesterday I came to bobby's place with my mom for a late lunch and a beer. It's been a while since I've been here, but I remember it as a place with great food and great service. Yesterday's experience was really disappointing. The place had 2 other tables with people - not busy at all. It look a while for the server to come over and bring menus and take our drink order. We ordered 2 beers, and wanted to order the Bangers & Mash - it's my fav dish here and it was always delicious. I was told that it's been discontinued. The menu isn't updated, nor is the website. I ordered the sausage rolls and mash, and my mom got the upside down Sheppard's pie. My meal was Ok, but I wouldn't recommend. The mash lacked flavour, and wasn't very warm, and the sausage rolls were dry - not sure they are made in house. The Sheppard's pie was a huge disappointment. It was drowning in gravy, there was hardly any veg or meat. The dish was mostly potatoes, and for some reason there was cheese. $22 for a dish that was mostly mashed potatoes seems like a rip off. My mom didn't even eat 1/4 of it and sent it back to the kitchen because it was so bad. We were surprised to see that there was no discount on the bill, and no manager came out to speak to us. Our server went back and they ended up discounting her dish 50%. Fine. From other reviews it sounds like there has been an ownership change, and maybe this explains the decline in the food. If this is the case, I highly recommend they reevaluate the direction they are going in. It's branded as an Irish pub - and these dishes are staples to Irish pub culture. I'm not sure we...
Read moreI have been frequenting Bobby’s for several years (back when it was in Braeside) and in general have always enjoyed it, and is now my local pub in legacy. The food is decent nothing to write home about, often go for the wings but have always thought the food is a bit overpriced for what you get. The beer is hit and miss often too warm or flat. I have to say though the service here the past year has been absolutely horrible! There are a couple of servers in particular that are so unfriendly it makes me never want to come back. Throws the menus down without a hello “do you know what you want?” Like seriously? And we are expected to tip? (This server I have had SEVERAL times and her attitude and service is the same every time) They don’t check up on you often if you need anything and if they do they are rude about it and never crack a smile. If you are on the patio expect to wait 30 mins before you even see one. As a small local business I would expect the service to go above and beyond to connect to people in the community, talk and build rapport with the customers to help with repeat business. It’s very disappointing that the pub now makes you feel like you are not welcome there when you are paying customers keeping the business open. As someone who has worked in customer service industry for the past 20 years I strongly suggest some training for your staff. Hopefully there are some improvements coming and I will start to...
