Calgary Italian Bakery — Restaurant in Calgary

Woke up this morning, got some gabagool... at Calgary Italian Bakery.

Parking in the area is a little problematic and the deli is only open for lunch hours. The major benefit for each upgrade for sub is one more meat and one more cheese so I recommend to go as big as you can. Additional compliments in the sense that the cost is "tax in" - I got an extra large for $12 and paid exactly $12 - this would be great if you have just cash on you. Outside, there are a few tables to sit at and eat if you want to.

But to the sandwich - you can definitely tell the amount of cheese on the extra large (In a good way, the pictures do it justice). Lettuce is fresh as well and I saw them preparing and slicing other meats as I was getting my sandwich made. The sandwich itself was far more dense than I expected - chain places may look bigger than the extra large but trust me - it will fill you up. Plenty of meat ingredients that taste wonderful. Do not expect a ton of choices for bread or veggies but do not fret - this place is worth it.

The deli is great and the staff are fantastic. I would recommend, as someone with a very Italian grandmother, in the spirit of their motto "taste the tradition" that they familiarize themselves with the meats better. 70% chance you get genoa when you ask for prosciutto, the giveaway is that prosciutto is not made with peppercorns, so if it has peppercorns, it's not prosciutto. More often than not I ask for prosciutto and I get genoa. Also in Europe putting mayo on sandwiches is just not a thing, they use butter, it would be extremely nice to have butter as an option for sandwiches. Otherwise it's great quality and the service is quick...

The deli at the bakery is an awesome place to not only grab lunch on the way by, but also to arrange a meal for your staff or customers. On many occasions, I will order an assortment of subs and deliver to a customer or our own office for lunch. If you are ever in the area, be sure to stop by.
