Fritou Chicken Carrington — Restaurant in Calgary

This is the best & well cooked fast food meal I’ve ever had. (It can be at par with the likes of Cactus etc) We had chicken and fries, along with gravy, coleslaw and hot sauce as sides. These all tasted fresh and delicious like home made cooking, including the fries were tasty. This experience was remarkable for me because I struggled with a sensitive tummy & IBS; so eating take outs or fast food meals especially deep fried foods and processed meals were a huge trigger for me; however surprisingly 24 hours after eating here I’m yet to be sick. The portions were large, the offer of 3sides is very generous for the price we paid. I didn’t mind to wait for the meals to be prepared cause I later realized that the chicken was made with fresh chicken not frozen like the popular fast food restaurants does.

I had a quick chat with the owner/staffs duo couple - I soon realized that they’ve got a number of years of industry experience. I admire their dedication to offer quality meals and not cut corners & tenacity. Beanie, the lady on the team custom makes the hot sauce - & again I dare say that it was the best sauce ever-( as someone who collects all of Nando’s sauces). I had an appointment after work so I didn't have a chance to go home to eat. There are numerous restaurants in the area where I had my appointment. I thought I would try Fritou at this location. When I walked in, there was no one at the counter, which is fine, I waited. A young man came out from the back to take my order. I ordered the snack meal. I specifically asked for all dark meat. I waited a few minutes and then I was handed a bag. I took my food and left. First off, I was given white meat ( chicken breast) and a piece of chicken that was mostly bones. I was also not given the pop that was supposed to come with the meal. I was also under the understanding that they can't charge for the paper bag anymore. Ordered 9 piece meal twice now and fries provided with order are only enough for maybe two people. Fry bag was 1/3 filled. Compared to Sage Hill and Saddletowne fry quantity is very low, same bag at those locations would be completely full. Suggest owner order that meal at one of those locations and compare fry quantity. First 9 piece meal order chicken was good, all different pieces. Second time ordering 9 piece meal it was prepared poorly, 4 drumsticks which all looked like they were part of a wing or they had some very small chickensNo wings at all, one breast and 4 thighs. Very disappointed with this last order. Live very close but will have to go to Sage Hill from now on to get a complete order done right.
