A Taste of South IndiaâAuthentic, Flavorful, and Family-Friendly âââââ
We had a wonderful dining experience at Madras CafĂŠ as a family, and Iâm happy to recommend it to anyone looking for authentic South Indian cuisine in Calgary. Thereâs something refreshing about a restaurant that isnât trying to imitate othersâtheyâre confidently themselves, and it shows in the flavor, presentation, and hospitality.
đśď¸ Bold Flavors & Well-Seasoned Dishes
Every dish we ordered was made with care and rich, balanced seasoning. We enjoyed: ⢠Butter Chicken â rich and creamy, with just the right amount of spice ⢠Garlic Naan â fresh, warm, and perfectly charred ⢠Chicken 65 â crispy, bold, and packed with South Indian flair ⢠Chicken Biryani â aromatic and satisfying, with generous portions ⢠Dosa with assorted chutneys â thin, crispy dosa served with a delightful variety of chutneys that brought contrasting notes to every bite
This isnât generic Indian foodâitâs thoughtfully prepared and rooted in tradition.
đ Friendly Service, Warm Atmosphere
The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, adding to the positive experience. The ambience is clean, simple, and tastefulâa space that makes you feel relaxed and cared for without any pretension.
đą More Than a Meal
In a busy and often divided world, itâs comforting to sit down as a family and share good food made with care. Places like Madras CafĂŠ quietly remind us that hospitality and joy can still flourish, even in the everyday. Thereâs something hopeful about that.
Wishing the owners and staff every blessingâpeace in your hearts, joy in your work, and favor in the days ahead. May this place continue to be a...

The Hyderabad Chili Dosa is an absolute standout: crispy on the outside and perfectly balanced in flavor, the heat from the chilies is complemented by a refreshing tang, making it a delightful dish. Each bite bursts with a unique blend of spices, making it both savory and satisfying.
The Vada Sambar and Idlis are equally impressive. The vadas are crispy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside, a perfect contrast to the rich and aromatic sambar. The idlis are steamed to perfection â light, fluffy, and fresh, a true testament to the restaurantâs attention to detail. You can taste the freshness in every dish, something thatâs all too rare in many restaurants these days.
The Madurai Masala is another exceptional dish. Rich in flavor with a depth of spices, itâs a warm, comforting plate that highlights the skill behind the cooking at Madras Cafe.
And let's not forget about the filter coffee â itâs an absolute must-try. Rich, aromatic, and full of depth, this traditional South Indian brew is the perfect way to end your meal and will leave you craving more.
It's not often you come across a South Indian restaurant in Canada that gets it so right, with every dish done to perfection.    Read moreI am always eager to try something new. I received many recommendations about their grill fish so I went to try it out. I went with my family to celebrate my dadâs birthday as he is a foodie and loves good fish. There is plenty of parking, easy to find a spot. We were warmly welcomed by the staff, seated in less than 5 minutes. The ambiance is vibrant and eye catching. The seating arrangement is very nice.
As we sat I already had few things on my list to try. As we got the menu we added few more things.
We ordered tandoori pomfret (fish), chicken tikka, 65 chicken biryani, mutton madras curry, rice, naan and drinks. The food took a little while to be served but was piping hot and fresh. The pomfret and 65 chicken were the star of the meal. We re-ordered them both as everyone loved the taste of it. Chicken tikka was good in taste but the mutton curry was different, not something of my palate. Naan was yum and so were the chutneys that were served with the food.
We ended the day with the traditional coffee which I personally loved it. Overall, an amazing experience. I highly recommend this place to go with family and friends. (Sorry no photos I was busy eating and complementing the...
