Hungers Stop — Restaurant in Calgary

I almost gave them one star but they dodged that bullet when they change their minds on an unreasonable rejection to my request initially. I used a Groupon and while it said dine-in only, I thought as long as I sat down and ate something, I can take-out the leftovers and other additional orders. However at first, the server lady claimed that I have to eat all the food she serves us and will not provide take-out containers. I thought this was completely absurd as she was taking the fine print too literally. I don't think anybody could run a business that doesn't give its customers much freedom. They came around eventually and the server lady told us she will honour our request after momentarily going to the back. She must have spoken to the manager who basically would know that my request is reasonable and viable for his business.

They made an effort to be friendly and welcoming which I appreciated. The food was mediocre yet very expensive which is why I would not eat there without a Groupon. In fact, because of the quality of food, I probably would not eat there even with a Groupon. It's something they could work on plus sprucing up the place so that it gives an impression of a sanitary place to eat. Another thing that bothered me was a sign to the delivery drivers that said for them to wait patiently and do not berate any staff member to hurry up. So basically, does this sign give them the excuse for them to take as much time as possible? People, especially customers do not like to wait. We all have busy lives and would not waste our times on a slow service and sensitive people that can't take small criticisms from customers. Remember that we are ones that give you jobs and keep your business running. We don't visit you because we need your service. It's something all businesses...

Excellent staff and service, personable and attentive without being over bearing. The atmosphere was 'ok', diner style conversion, some what reminiscent of a Perkins/Denny's crossed over with a hole in the wall sports bar. The food was a mixed bag. Everything on the menu was mid range price wise, the poutine and fries seemed about on par with the price, the meat however wasn't (au jus was all but water with no flavor) tasted like prepackaged frozen beef / mushroom /red pepper mix heated up and thrown on a small bun. The sides were good however, I would probably return here for maybe beer with poutine or a side / appetizer. Edit: Recently returned, excellent service and pleasent staff, however the quality of the food has significantly decreased. Ordered a steak sandwich, was not seasoned at all, I've tasted better burgers before, and there was a dallop of what appeared to be margarine on top of the steak, it tasted like mechanically tenderized chuck 'steak' pressure cooked then seared. It pretty much tasted like canola oil. I wasn't impressed, maybe the quality of other things have held up but I very much doubt I'll be returning for the...

I just returned from what started out as a reasonably pleasant experience and turned into one of the worst I ever had. I bought a groupon for this business and went in today at noon. No one and I mean no was there...at lunch on a beautiful sunny day. The food was okay at best, but it was the service that really lacked. I asked for the bill and was told my groupon only covered what I ate in their restaurant. I had left overs I didn't finish and they took the time to argue with me that the food I didn't finish wasn't covered in the groupon. That is not a thing or a groupon rule. The owner however, took the time to double down on that stance insisting that he could "play " with the rules (his words). He straight up admitted he was making up this condition. In the end it was just a very negative argument resulting in me paying for what I bought (of course) and taking what I didn't finish home. This place isn't a buffet by the way. Now I will never go back or say a positive thing about this business again. They are a dying business and this is just one reason why. Terrible...
