Imperial Dynasty Restaurant — Restaurant in Calgary

I was at home. So the atmosphere was fine. The delivery was faster than I could get hungry for the delivery. And I don’t know another Chinese restaurant in Calgary that makes baby Bok Choy. It was exactly like the stuff I ate daily in Singapore and Malaysia. The lady who took my order was extremely accommodating, the delivery man was cheery and so nice. I could not believe the weight of the bag. It was enormous. And I’d only ordered A meal for 2 and the big Happy Box of Bok Choy. What a gem. What a great place to be so near my fiends home. I might come here more often. The cost was because we were a bit over zealous. But I wanted to know I could wake up tomorrow and have another serving of the hot and soup with a baby Bok Choy chaser. So 2 could easily eat for $40. And be completely stuffed and satisfied. Thank you Imperial Dynasty. You served me fine food. We also had spring rolls, Shanghai noodles with pork and shrimp, beef and broccoli, chicken fried rice, huge jug of hot and sour soup, and of course fortune cookies. Bon Apetit.

Next - I will try the buffet. I can’t imagine how much I will nosh...

Decided to give this buffet a try on a Saturday at 6pm. First impression was good - plenty of parking, seemed clean and well lit. Very attentive staff and I was seated immediately. Noticed while walking past the buffet that selection was limited but seemed adequate and was well labelled. All cheap and low-end offerings unfortunately. The soups were good (both wonton and hot&sour) as were the vegetables and the noodles. Pan fried wontons had a nice filling but the wonton itself wasn't great. Ginger beef was tough and leathery, the salt&pepper fish (wasa) was surprisingly without flavour and greasy. Deep fried chicken rings and ribs were both some of the worst I've had. Deep fried shrimp were battered but not peeled (really!) so the breading needs to be removed while peeling the shrimp leaving a tiny, tough, and rubbery shrimp without any breading. Dessert selection wasn't labelled so a few of the items weren't identifiable. Fruit was average, as was the white cake. Other items were pretty awful. Absolutely terrible customer service, especially the woman with the glasses claiming to the "MANAGER". What's the point of being a "Buffet" when you can't keep your eyes on the food rather than the customer. Literally went in to dine in and they had their buffet service and got some items and was being eyed down by this particular woman with the glasses (Manager). If you are that cheap and stingy about the amount of food people get, then consider not operating "Buffet" service in this restaurant! Buffet service is "All You Can Eat" and judging by the looks she gives to people, don't even bother to waste your time and money at this establishment. I don't tend to post negative reviews but this one has gotten on my nerves and forced me to leave one. Overall will definitely never return based on the service this woman gives. Food in general is cheap and not much options and you have to literally request them to make more food each time. ZERO STARS ON...
