Exceptional Dining Experience at Sankalp Restaurant, Calgary
I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Sankalp Restaurant multiple times, including 3 times in December 2024, and most recently in January 2025. Each visit has been a delight, and I can confidently say that this restaurant has become one of my top favorites in Calgary!
The food is consistently outstanding. I’ve tried a wide variety of dishes, including Mysore Chatpatta Dosa, Military Ghee Roast Dosa, Special Tomato Masala Uthappam, Onion Chilly Garlic Rava Dosa, Onion Rava Dosa, Spooky Dosa, Dosa Chaos, Sizzling Brownie with Ice Cream, Veg Jalfrazee, Paneer Butter Masala, Butter Roti, Butter Naan, Plain Roti, and Bombay Veg Frankie. Every dish has been made with precision, capturing the authentic taste and flavors from back home. The dosas are particularly exceptional — made just the way I remember them. The dishes are always served on German silver utensils, and the service is impeccable, with the staff treating each order with love, trust, and care.
I’ve always been impressed by the attention to detail and the excellent customer service. The owners, Nikul and Pinkal, along with their staff member Mitra, are always welcoming, smiling, and doing their best to ensure a great experience. Extra sambhar and chutneys are always served without hesitation or extra charges, making the dining experience even more special.
Over my multiple visits, I’ve also learned that Sankalp excels in dosa, idli, uthappam, starters, and other South Indian delicacies. While their Punjabi dishes are also made with rich flavors, textures, and a variety of spices, personally, I didn’t find the Punjabi vegetables to be to my taste. However, I’m eager to continue exploring their extensive menu.
A nostalgic touch I miss from back home is the sweet Kapoori Paan that was always served complimentary at restaurants. I truly hope Sankalp in Calgary will offer this delightful treat one day as it adds a perfect finish to the meal.
I can confidently guarantee that anyone who visits Sankalp Restaurant will not be disappointed. The combination of exceptional food, attentive service, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere makes this place a must-visit for anyone who enjoys authentic Indian cuisine.

Read moreWe had an amazing dining experience at Sankalp Restaurant on Valentine’s Day, despite it being one of the busiest freezing nights! The restaurant was packed, yet the staff managed everything with efficiency, warmth, and a smile. Their hospitality truly stood out, making the evening even more special.
Now, let’s talk about the food—absolutely “Laajawab” (delicious)! The South Indian dishes were full of authentic flavors, with crispy dosas, rich chutneys, and perfectly spiced sambar. The Punjabi cuisine was equally “Saras” (amazing)—every dish was bursting with flavors, from the creamy paneer curries to the soft, fresh naan.
What made the experience even more special is that this restaurant is run by Gujarati owners, and we couldn’t be prouder of the way they maintain such “sneh bharel seva” (warm hospitality) and authentic taste. Even on a hectic Valentine’s Day, they ensured that every guest had a great experience without compromising on food quality or service. “Kharekhar Gujarati nu naam roshan kariyu che!” (They have truly made Gujaratis proud!)
Last but not least, the buttermilk (“chaas”) was the perfect way to end our meal. It was refreshing, soothing, and made for a delightful finish, leaving us completely satisfied.
Overall, Sankalp is a must-visit, whether it’s a special occasion or a casual meal. “Ek vaar jau to fari fari javase!” (Go once, and you’ll want to return again and again!)
