Subway — Restaurant in Calgary

This subway went down hill a few years ago. To the point that I started only going to the Subway in Aspen, because the food quality is so much better. Well I was in a rush and thought I'd try it again this week. First off they have now added self service kiosks that you have to use to order your food. So you have to spend 5 mins trying to figure out how to customize the different subs you want to order. Then at the end when you go to pay it asks you to tip, 20%, 25% etc, why would I tip the company for me doing the work and them saving money by hiring less people?? The only work being done is making the food I paid for, this is no different than McDonalds asking me to tip them for the burgers someone orders from their kiosks. With that aside, the bread is always dry here and they are cheap with the toppings. Do yourself a favor and go to the Aspen location. I stopped getting Subway long ago due to so many negative experiences including the food quality, service, and even hygiene. I work in the same building as this Subway location, and haven't stepped foot in it once. Today, I was in a pinch, and decided okay, I will bite the bullet and get a sandwich here since I did not pack a lunch and have a long day yet ahead of me. I did not have time to drive to Safeway Aspen like I usually would in this situation. I walked in - the place is super clean, the person making my sandwich was very pleasant and attentive, and all the veggies and protein looked super fresh and presented very well. I ordered a footlong and ate the whole thing when I was planning to save half for later - it was that good. Well-deserved 5 stars. I am so glad I have a convenient option downstairs from my work now. I was walking home late at night in the snow, hungry and tired, and was hoping just for a Subway cookie. I saw the "open" sign in the window and stepped in, but saw that it was exactly 10:00, and the store was clearly trying to close. I apologized and said not to worry about it, but the staff member working very kindly said that although she was closed up, she could make me one sandwich if I needed. In the end, I asked just for the cookie, but was grateful for her patience and flexibility when she was trying to pack it up for the night.
