If you enjoy spending your money on people who treat you like garabge, the most iggnorant staff, waiting for hours and then being forced to tip then this is the place for you! My daughter wanted to take me out on mothers day and bubblemania was not opened yet and being old regualrs at tea funny in the past (even though it took a little long) with good food drinks and friendly staff I decided to come here. We arrive the employees were sitting down eating and a man was behind the counter. He waved us to the back and said just sit down and order everything on the ipad. We seat ourselves check out the menu which is very confusing. For example they have 3 or 4 different options and prices for the wings. The special is 40 cents but when hitting chicken wing special says $100, of course I start thinking we ordered a $100 worth of wings. I go to the counter to explain and correct myself to the person behind the counter he didnt listen his reply was i said you can order eveeything on the ipad i replied look you are not listening I dont want $100 worth of wings he told me he would just know continuously motioning his hands to sit down as if he was swatting a fly away and said in a irritated tone you can go sit down he didnt even explain how to pick the flavors with this $100 special price. After figuring it out ourselves our order is in and about 30 mins go by dont ask if we want water or anything check on us nothing, so i get up to use the washroom which they had two of but were possibly unisex idk anyways it was filthy and close to the counter which was awkward on top of it the door didnt lock. Come out and there is a about 3 people in line. Sit down wait another 10mins started to wonder if our order was even in as everyone who wa sin thenlin was gone with there stuff. She brings one drink and the order of wings and tells my daughter sorry yours will be a cpl more mins. So 15 mins go by we get her drink. After waiting now almost 90mins for our drink and snack we ordered more wings you are allowed to order one round with each drink you purchase. Order came quickly and we decided to get going as we had been there for over 2hrs. Get up to go pay my daughter was treating me for a mothers day gift, was not sure if she would have enough money to pay because of course the $7.99 wing price was coming up not the $3.99 price for the special. I ran to my vechile to grab my wallet. Come back in and noticed my daughter was being a bit standoffish. She begins to give her the money for the bill the lady (our server) calls out the total that will be 22.05 before the tips. I came closer to the counter and said pardon me she looks around then down. I said what did you say ? Did you just say before the tips? She goes ah yeah and kind if smiled Ijust shook my head. Then she gives my daughter the tray that holds the bill in so she could give her the tip. I pushed it away and they had this little grim reaper figurine on the counter that said tip eater i asked her if this is for tips she said yes but it has to be heavy enough to make it work (i cpuld not.make this up lol) so i put some change on it...it worked and we all just awkwardly watched it take the tip. After that i asked for the recipit and I really didnt know how to feel. Kind of killed the vibe for mothers day and I was not sure if she was trying to rude or maybe even a racist but it was very upseting and i wish I got iggnorant with that lady cause i will NEVER BE BACK and Im going to warn everyone I know to stay far away from that joke of an...
Read moreTea Funny is a great place to get a variety of bubble teas, hot beverages, tasty desserts, and hot foods as well. It is unique with each table equipped with a self-serve iPad menu ordering system. Think of a McDonald's ordering kiosk but on a table side iPad. Once you input your order in, the service is normally fairly quick, even on a busy day. If you do need service, or if you want to check out, you can summon the staff with just a button on the iPad menu. The staff are normally walking around as well so you can wave someone down.
The drinks are not overly sweet and have good flavour. There are some interesting hot teas available if you aren't feeling up for a bubble tea, mind you, the teas come in a pot so you get a few cups. For desserts, I've tried some Chinese-style shaved ice, with customized toppings, and they are really good. The hot foods are surprisingly not bad as well, not exactly restaurant quality, but it is definitely passable and tasty. You can get fried rice, chicken wings, many other assorted appetizers, and even a hot pot meal.
The crowd is usually younger but there is a good mix of all ages there. I personally find it more enjoyable at Tea Funny than Bubblemania (not a hit on Bubblemania). It's not as hectic or as loud so it is more relaxed. The atmosphere and decor can be described as modern chic. Overall, this is a great place for a late...
Read moreBest Feature: it's not too busy. They have take out deals if you want bubble tea but don't want to spend too much and if you want a quiet or private /quiet space to hang/work/study away from home. You order through your mobile phone. Based on that solely I would have ranked it higher. But continue reading.
Drinks: they have a daily drink feature special for each day of the week. The better of drinks would be the honey tea, warm beverages like black sesame or almond or the more basic flavoured teas or okay but can be inconsistent.
Food: poutine or wings are descent. Things are descently priced. It's obvious which items were frozen, but if you end up eating here then get their wings - it tastes like wings, slightly coated and on smaller side. Their top two flavours are salt & pepper and the thai spicy, followed by lemon pepper.
Ther Rice & stir-fry noodle dishes are all waaaay too salty... They can at times be greesy or watery. It's edible but even if it were free I wouldn't say it makes it any better... they are about $10-12. They mention "with vegetables" which was plain cabbage merely the amount of garnish. I've had more garnishings of green onion in noodle soup, unfortunately. But the fried stuff is probably the route to go if you eat here.
Again I mainly go here cuz it's open late, not too busy, and can do work, hang out, ...
