We were greeted as we came in the door by Sunir, He is lovely. He escorted us to a choice of tables. We sat where we had the very first time we ever went there. I was invited for a birthday celebration to this wonderful restaurant. It was the first time I tried Indian traditional meals. My friends who are from India and Pakistan confirmed that the meals served in Namskar are really like home made. After trying it and seeing there several Indian families I am 100% sure that it is true.
We came exactly at 2pm when Namskar opens and the place got busy very soon. Namskar is beautiful bright place with simple but appealing nicely decorated and welcoming interior.
We were served by our friend Arif. Knowing Arif I knew that he will be very warm and friendly because that is simply his nature. However I was very surprised that on top of that he was highly professional. Arif did not take our friendship for granted. He answered all my questions about their menu, served us promptly and he regularly checked our table the same way as any other tables.
The food was supreme and served in beautiful dishes. We ordered appetizer, two vegetarian dishes and one dish with lamb. The menu contains many options and the meals are freshly cooked every day. I do not like too spicy so I asked what are the options. On top of non spicy choices Arif also let us know that they can make some other dishes medium so we had even more options to choose from. The three of us were not even able to finish this super delicious food because of a very generous amount. The prices are surprisingly affordable. We all agreed that Namskar definitely deserves 5 stars. We will be back for sure. Go there and...
Read moreIncredibly disappointing. Each visit has gotten progressively worse. I've not previously posted, but this order was just too ... sad. I have continued to hold out hope because when I first visited this establishment, their food was so delicious. Fresh. Never has it been cheap to order, but at one time, it was worth the cost. Sadly, this appears to be no longer true. Today's order was simple and should have been mouth watering. Sadly, it was stale, too cold, and just plain wrong. Let's start with one of my all time favourites; Chaat Papri - refrigerated cold - like someone else's left-overs; thus the "crispy" chips were not crispy. The green (mint) sauce (my fav) missing entirely. The white (yogurt) & brown (tamarind) sauces were pre-poured onto, with a side of white sauce to boot. Like, someone had made it, left it, and then sent it out for someone else. Moving on ... the Kadhai Prawn. Well, I do so enjoy this sauce, but it felt, again, like left-overs. The prawns tasted reheated - too well cooked to be freshly made to order - thankfully, the sauce hides much! What can't be hidden is fresh Naan. No amount of oil or butter or garlic can hide stale Naan. For the prices charged for their meals, they should never be serving stale Naan. I have never had such hard, stale Naan before! They claim on their web site that the Garlic Naan is one of their favourites. If this is how it's going out regularly, they are simply lying. It was the worst garlic Naan I have ever had. Ever. It was hard, slightly burnt, which would be completely forgivable if it...
