Avoid this place if you value good service.
My friend and I walked in and initially thought this would be a good spot. Our server, Taylor, seemed friendly and gave us time to decide on our order, which we appreciated. We both ordered mild Caesars with our meals, and when she served the drinks, she told us to let her know if they were too spicy.
After one sip, we both knew they were far too spicy. Unfortunately, it took Taylor walking past our table 3–4 times before we could even get her attention to ask for more pickle and Clamato juice. Before we could finish asking for a larger glass, she had already turned away.
She eventually brought the juice, and our food came shortly after, it was hot and tasted great. However, we were only given one napkin each and no utensils. Again, we tried getting Taylor’s attention with no luck. Another server noticed and said, “She didn’t give you utensils?” before quickly bringing them over for us.
When we were done eating, we waited at least 10 minutes to get takeout boxes. There were only five tables in the entire restaurant, so it was far from busy. Taylor passed by us several times and never once checked on us or asked how our food was.
Finally, I asked the male server if he could help, and he turned around, rolled his eyes, and said, “I’m not your server.” I responded, loud enough for him to hear, “Our server is ignoring us.” Taylor came out of the kitchen with boxes and said, “I’m not ignoring you, I’m just busy.”
I’ve been to far busier restaurants and have never experienced such poor service. A good server checks in, follows up, and doesn’t give attitude when you’re trying to get basic things like napkins or boxes. And even if you’re not someone’s assigned server, a little courtesy like offering to get the right person goes a long way.
The food was good, but the service was incredibly...
Read moreWe were in Castlegar, for a girls volleyball tournament the next day. Sitting in hotel looking at google for a place to eat for myself and 2 girls, came Cross Cartwrights pub, girls liked the menu and decided to give it a go. This is not a big flashy place from the street, trust me go inside! It is the definition of a neighborhood pub. The decor reminded me of European with stained glass on the wall. If you have ever gone into a joint that has been using g the same deep fry oil forever you smell it. Not here, the deep fry going on smelled great, and the place was neat and tidy. We had deep fried pickles and fish tacos to start, the pickles were very good, hot and fresh. The fish tacos, I would put these baby's up against the best ones I have ever had, great fish and very fresh veg slaw. Girls had chicken burgers, fries and waffle fries. They could barely get the burgers done. I had the steak sandwich, cooked perfect and seasoning was simple salt pepper and little onion powder I think. Sooo good, not overpowering the meat. The waitress was very efficient and friendly. Excellent job. Do not let the little sign out front fo you. You don't need to be flashy...
Read moreStopped in for an early Saturday evening at the pub and sat outside to enjoy the marvelous mountain view. We got prompt service at the start and we got our drinks and orders in right away. Food came to us in about 20-30, fairly prompt. However, we did not get our starter that we asked for and one of our dishes had a mix up. No big deal, the waitress quickly took the dish back to fix it, however it did take about 10-15 minutes to fix it. The other person had to start eating to make sure their food didn't go cold. Once the fixed dish came back to us, we inquired about our starter and was told it was on its way. About another 15 minutes later we finished our meal and the waitress returned to take our drinks and dishes. We asked about the starter yet again and she said "Oops, it's on the way now". We waited another 10 minutes before going in to pay the bill. Unfortunately the starter was coming out of the kitchen as we were paying for the bill. They gave us the starter for free, apologized, and made it to go for us. In the end it could have been an off day for them, the food was fairly good, and the staff was fairly pleasant, so it was overall a...
