There's only one indian restaurant in castlegar town. But the services of this restaurant weren't really good. We ordered daal makni there were little small stones in daal makhni. It wasn't taste like daal makhni actually it was mong daal uncooked. Tandoori roti wasn't properly buttered there was no butter on some tandoori rotis. Asked the server for pickle and lassi he forgot. Then we didn't ask for lassi because it was almost end of dinner. The person who's taking order from customer should take one pen and notepad in hands to write order sometime there's lots of things person can forget. If this restaurant improve services can attract lots of customers

Came in for the lunch special and was really impressed with everything. Ordered the lamb curry, tender flavourful lamb and some Chana masala ( chickpea stew) and curried lentils, spiced basmati rice and rice pudding for dessert. Naan was perfectly fresh and buttered. Gentleman who served me was very attentive and didn’t even charge me for an extra side of rice that I asked for because I wanted to clean the plate the food was so good. Only thing I could criticize was that the Indian music was kinda loud, but otherwise an awesome experience. If I lived in Castlegar I would be here regularly. Best Indian lunch special I’ve ever had. Thanks

I had an amazing visit last night to The Cuisine of India in Castlegar. I was so impressed with the service and atmosphere in this small BC town. The lassi drinks were sweet, I had the best veggie Samosas ever. Their mint and tamarind sauces for samosas were chilled and perfectly blended. Roti bread, pulau rice, and spicy lamb saag were all done to perfection. If you are looking for authentic, well made, and delicious Indian food, visit this location. Don’t be afraid to ask questions about dishes you aren’t familiar with, the staff was very very helpful!

The taste was not at all a general taste which we get in Indian Cuisine. We ordered a shahi paneer which did not taste like a shahi paneer and the paneer was chopped into very small little pieces also, ordered malai kofta where koftas were made up of mashed potatoes instead of cottage cheese(paneer), the gravy was super tangy tasted like a tomato puree which we felt like the same gravy in shahi paneer as well. We ordered tandoori roti which was previously cooked and half-burnt which made it hard and chewy. We ordered a vegetable biryani which was one of the worst biryani we had in short it wasn't a biryani at all. We ordered a PULAO RICE and requested to make it delicious and we got red chili powder and garam masala sprinkled from the top. After all, shout out to the chef of the...

Small portions, unimaginative dishes.

I'm not sure why Cuisine of India thinks their clientele has never had a thali platter before but that's the impression I get from theirs.

No fresh veggie, no good veggie dish like biryani or korma, no sweet (rice pudding), half a nan (really?) and uninspired Dahl, which tasted like it had been in the bambourine for 2 days. All the sauces tasted like slightly different versions of the same thing. On top of it all, stale, tasteless jasmine rice, which again seemed to have been in a warmer for too long.

I steer away from restaurant butter chicken, but my wife had it and it was the terrible kind: tomato soup with cilantro and chicken.

All of this for $18 is the topping on it all.

If you've never had Indian food, do not start that...

Such a wonderful experience here. My husband had never tried indian food before (I know, right!?) and I have been bugging him for years just to give it a try. We live 2 hours away, drove to Cusine of India for date night and were extreemly impressed. The food was amazing, fresh, hot and from what we could tell, homemade. The service was 5 star in itself. Our host was so attentive. He seemed to read our mind and knew even before we knew ourselves, what we needed. The portions were substantial. We had enough to take home, which we will be enjoying for tomorrow night's supper. My husband? LOVED IT!! and now has claimed Indian cuisine is now his favorite. Thank you for making our date night...
