The worst restaurant experience I've ever had. I am leaving this review immediately after leaving the restaurant.
They had my party of 6 wait over an hour and a half for 2 burgers, nachos, and calamari. We arrived at the restaurant and ordered and while we were there, two other groups sat down. Nobody got any food while we were there.
The waitress was very kind and understandable and explained to me how it's the chef's first week and the chef is preparing food for the restaurant next door as well. So they were getting food and we were getting absolutely nothing for over an hour and a half. The waitress assured me the food would be worth the wait and how the chef makes a great burger. Unfortunately, this could not be further from the truth.
For $23+tax and after waiting nearly 2 hours, they presented me what looked like a slider with a small fry. You can't even see the beef. I felt insulted just looking at it. There was MAYBE 3oz of beef and it was mostly just bread. We didn't get the nachos or calamari in that time frame either.
I decided I was going to pay for my pint of beer and go eat else where because this establishment clearly did not respect my time or money.
The strangers sitting next to us, who were waiting there for their food for over an hour, expressed the same dissatisfaction we were. We decided to ask them if their water tasted like beer. They said yes. Our 6 waters and their 4 waters all tasted like beer. I've never been to a pub that had such a bad problem with WATER. In hindsight, we should have ran for the hills after tasting how awful if was.
After a long day out on the town, this "restaurant" left an awful taste in my mouth and all I had was their water.
DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR TIME OR MONEY.
There are businesses out there that respect you. This is not...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped in for lunch. Something we had been meaning to do for a long time since buying a house in town. Unfortunately, one issue that would have been cheap and simple to resolve or fix ruined the entire experience.
Wife ordered a mushroom burger. I ordered a bacon burger with cheese. Decided to spend the extra on the (always overpriced everywhere.) gravy option. Don't do it often, but "hey, it's a date we don't go out often. Let's get the gravy."
Got our food, and the fries are so overdone that they snap. A little frustrated, we eat our burgers and wait for the waiter to return.
"How's the food she says?" Burger seems great. We only got one of the two gravies we ordered, and the fries are really overdone. (As I demonstrate a snapping french fry) We both laugh she grabs a fry attempts to snap herself laughs, and says "I'll bring this up with the kitchen right away and I'll come back with the gravy."
Comes back with gravy informs us she told the kitchen and... nothing? No fallow up, no replacement or reimbursement. Nothing.
Finished our burgers, got the bill 10 minutes later. Never ate the fries or gravy we paid extra for and still left a tip.
Don't know how expensive it is to replace fries, but honestly, I can't say we have any intentions of going back, so probably pretty costly not to replace them.
Service staff was great to talk to, and we all shared a good laugh about the issue. Whatever supervisor/manager dropped the ball on fixing the issue in the kitchen really ruined the whole experience by not correcting the issue immediately. I spoke up about the issue pleasantly with a bit of humor, and it's not on me to tell them what is or isn't the appropriate corse of action in...
Read moreMy wife & I visited The Fergusson Room today (August 3rd) for a late lunch and were not disappointed. However, the Fergusson Room had not been our first destination for lunch today; we had planned on dining at another establishment in Fergus but, upon arrival, were told by a Server that they were not accepting any more Customers since they were short-handed. We were taken aback since we had never encountered this situation at a dining establishment in the past. So, we discovered The Fergusson Room through a GOOGLE Search and wound up having a wonderful afternoon and meal there. Our Server, Clare, was outstanding and very engaging. A true professional who has worked within the Hospitality and Restaurant Industry for several years and it certainly shows. She was very attentive and ensured everything was in-place for us to enjoy our meal and time at the restaurant. The food was delicious, fresh and nicely presented on the plate. They also serve home-made Ketchup which was very tasty and a nice alternative to "the big name brands". The Fergusson Room offers a wide range of beers, wines & coolers to accompany any meal. I enjoyed a Stout from a local Craft Brewery and was not disappointed. If you find yourself in Fergus or the surrounding area, we highly recommend stopping-in at The Fergusson Room for a meal & beverage. Like ourselves, you won't be...
