Gallants & Co. Island Food To Go — Restaurant in Charlottetown

We needed for business to go to Charlottetown and somebody told us that this is a great place to have a Sandwich or a sweet treat with good coffee, so there we went. It is much more than this. We have been warmly received by the owner and the kitchen crew. And the food was just absolutely amazing. We had a fish burger and a chicken burger and two desserts and coffee and not one item has not been outstanding. And also the place itself is much more than a take out place. The seats right in front of the window is nice and sunny and you can see people come and go and everything is absolutely tidy and clean. I run a kitchen myself and it is nice to see that other people take the cleanliness as serious as I do. Will we go back, for sure! Furthermore we bought a sourdough bread to take home and a flatbread with tomatoes and it was just so yummy- it reminded us a lot of the bread we used to have back home in Switzerland. My wife and I got engaged on this PEI beach six years ago and 2021 marked our five year anniversary. To celebrate, I reached out to Tyler at Gallants to pitch an idea - a five course dinner for two, with wine pairings down on the sand. No shoes, no problem!

Tyler immediately bought into the vision, adding to my bubbling excitement. He quickly went to work designing a menu based on our tastes, sourcing local ingredients and adding his contemporary flair.

We had to work around the weather, scheduling a rain date which turned out to be extremely important. The stage was set.

A beautiful evening awaited as the sun shone down on the sparkling sea. We were invited to our table, draped in white linens and greeted with two glasses of Fizz. Tyler and his partner, Christine (both Red Seal chefs), flawlessly executed five amazing courses.

Amazing food, great people and service. Owned and run by two PEI chefs, Gallant & Co. offers a broad selection of to go options, from delicious soups, chicken pot pie, biscuits the size of a baseball, sandwiches and salads.

They have a freezer stocked with frozen choices, as well, including their incredible crab cakes. (Prob the best I’vs had. No filler. Just Island rock crab!)

Gallant & Co serves a great burger on a homemade bun with PEI potato fries. The fries alone are worth the trip!

And if you’re craving a bagel topped with smoked salmon, look no further. Even the bagels are homemade.

With 2 top Island chefs owning and running the place, you know they can source the best Island beef, seafood and shellfish and fresh produce. And they take their reputation as respected chefs seriously.
